New bank notes.

Somebody told me that some existing bank notes are being phased out, is this true? and if so what bank notes and when? because personally can't seem to find any information..

Haven't heard of this, I think they would probably like to get rid of the fiver but there's nothing official planned.

Probably the �20 note, as both �5 and �10 have been replaced fairly recently.


Don't have any definite info though.

I heard something a while back, the �5 notes where supposed to be getting changed to plastic notes ( similar to australian currency, can't be torn and doesn't damage in the wash ! )


Not heard anything recently though

New �20s were very recent! The old 20s became no longer legal tender about a year ago.


�5 seems most likely. People tend to scrunch them up with thier change after they have broken a larger note and they get very damaged compared to other notes. Means the Mint have to keep making more!


�50 could be possible too. Its the oldest style note and they often have many tears and cracked edges as they are too big for most people's wallets!

I heard somewhere that the average �5 note last about 7 months before it has to be replaced.
