I recently stayed in York , one night in one place then we moved to another
1, it smelled right through
2, it was put on Booking.com as a triple superior room
3, the owner was of dirty appearance with a dirty tea/ coffee stained vest and shorts below a fat hairy belly
4, he was rude and not helpful
5, has asked us for £15 ( in his hand) when we arrived
6, there was no tea or coffee facilities as he deemed that to be unhygienic

I queried this and told him we’d paid £101-35 on the Booking.com site, he said it was for the extra bed ,I said we booked a ‘triple’ room anyway, we paid him his £15 and left the next morning and found a beautiful little place just outside the City walls, clean and fresh with lovely owners who couldn’t do enough for us

More Rigsby and Rising Damp, Arky, in my view.

I wouldn't base booking anywhere to stay on what Trip Adviser has to say about the place. Have they not been duped time and again by promoting places that don't actually exist.
Yes better eg's Ken... shouldn't laugh though.

The £15 doesn’t bother me , he can keep it, he stood at the foot of two steep lots of stairs and watched us struggle up them with our small cases ,he looked like a scruffy version of
Omid Djalili Who I admire greatly by the way, I think he may have been Iraqi or Egyptian
I think I remember you telling us the same the other day, did you?
I’d never book a room in an ‘unknown’. If push came to shove and nothing better was available I’d rather make do with Premier Inn. At least you know what you’re getting.
