I have an appointment here and have never been to this hospital before nor do I know the area.

I know parking at any large hospital is a nightmare so would prefer to park elsewhere and take a bus

Any suggestions for the best parking spot - not multistory. I see that Coventry does have a Park and Ride facility but as far as I can tell the bus doesn't go to the hospital

have you tried traveline? that's a really good service. It may be like Oxford for example - the park and ride busses take you to the centre then you swap for a hospital bus

I'll give it a go, bednobs. Thank you
no problem - of course there might be someone who sees this who lives there and can tell you right away :)
Hope so!
Comparing a bus route map for Coventry with Parkopedia's map of all car parks in the city, shows that your plan isn't a particularly easy one to carry out in practice. If it was me, I'd bite the bullet and use the hospital car park. (It's very easy to get to without going anywhere near to the centre of the city, which is one of my least favourite areas in the country to drive around).

If you're determined to give your plan a go though, I offer the following suggestion:

Park on the Clay Lane (surface) car park, which is just off the A4600 Walsgrave Road. (Postcode CV2 4LH. 3 hours = £2, 4 hours [max] = £5). Walk back to Walsgrave Road, turning right at the end of Clay Lane to reach the nearest bus stop (on the right-hand side of the road as you're walking). Take a 9, 9A, 17, 17A, 85A or X6 bus to the hospital from there.

Thank you, Buenchico
As a long term resident of Coventry (albeit now relocated to more scenic climes), I agree entirely with Chris.

Although parking at the hospital is expensive, it is usually easy enough (unless you are arriving/departing at rush hours) - and all the most convenient, cheaper alternatives will have been snaffled up by staff and/or regular visitors.

Whatever you do don't park in any of the nearby Supermarkets (Asda etc) - they have some very rigorous enforcement policies and just 'nipping into the store for a few minutes' won't save you.
Re bednobs @ 12.39...Oxford has several Park & Ride facilities...go to the right ones and buses serve hospitals...
as i recall, it's only thornhill that serves the hospital - not much good if you live or are travelling in on the west side :)
^and as I recall, service 700 from Kidlington via the Oxford Parkway (Water Eaton) Park and Ride serves all three of the major hospitals...ideal if travelling in from the North (and East if using Thornhill) :)
lol i bow to your superior knowledge of the oxford P+R :)

I am not going to Oxford
lol so sorry barry, it's very true that i am chatting about total irrelevancies. Hope you manage to make a decision and get there trouble-free :)

Thank you, bednobs :D
It's a fair few years ago, but I remember going there. We found parking eventually, but it did take some time driving around. You then can have a pretty long walk to the entrance.
