Actually, I would argue that the nearest trees to the city centre are now growing on the spot where our house used to stand - 10 Clarion St. How's that for irony?!
It looks as though they are doing a good job.

Not quite Angel Meadow, Pete. I believe that is at the side of Miller St, opposite the CIS building. But I might be showing my ignorance if Clarion St falls within that area. Do you know if it does, Pete?
I see one of their plans is to plant a tree for each person in the City Region, what's the funny part?
Question Author
Chris, those trees are on a part of Ancoats that we used to call Prussia Park, on what used to be Kemp Street. It's just accross Oldham Road from Clarion St. There were no trees there when we played on it as children. It was a shale covered playground. I've had loads of skinned knees there!
Question Author
TC, I'm from that area. The thought of trees, compared to how it used to be, is really funny for me - in more ways than one.
Trees are so last year.
Ask the Brazilian president
Green spaces in an urban environment benefit all - keep it up Manchester.
maybe the protestors are too young to know of Gretney Walk......
The more trees, the better.
Question Author
I agree Tilly. To see them on the spot where I used to live though, is something I never thought would happen.
There you go. Bless 'em indeed.
Question Author
Although I have to say they have been there for quite a few years. They're not part of this initiative.
Sheffield was the city of trees, it's now known as the city of stumps:-)
Who felled 'em?
Kier, acting on behalf of the city council.
