Has anybody who's wages come via HSBC been paid today. There seems to be an almighty snafu. People who are just about managing will be in real trouble.

Has there been something in the news about this to say it's an issue with HSBC?
I wasn't paid today but when i checked with my payroll I found that we'd been told that because of the Christmas holidays the weekly payroll run wasn't to take place this week so we'd be paid a week late

My wife has checked that the staff wages have left the organisations bank, so the problem for them is HSBC.

Can't believe you would be happy being paid a week late.
Nothing on here for today.
When did employer make the payment? Can someimes be a couple of hours.
I suggest she checks with HSBC.
>Can't believe you would be happy being paid a week late
Better to be paid weekly and wait an extra week than have to wait for a monthly cycle.
I don't always get paid on time- I don't get paid until the school pays the invoice. I suppose the self employed have it worse

My wife is currently talking to her bank and her accountants. Staff not very happy.
Let us know the outcome please sam

I'm watching our online banking to let her know if anything changes.

Downdetector full of complaints about HSBC not paying wages today. HSBC say should be in by 5pm, but if not in by 5.30 it will be Tuesday before peoples wages are in their bank. Disgraceful.
Question Author
The money was eventually paid in at approx 10pm. Considering HSBC told my wife, that if it wasn't in by 5.30pm then it would be in on Tuesday. Glad it arrived, tax bill to pay, but incredibly inefficient.
Left paying the tax bill a bit late didn't she?
No sympathy from here.

I'm sorry that you are so wrong Hopkirk, never been self employed have you.
I've had a payment today ( HSBC ) not wages that was Tuesday, but a very similar thing to wages.

Apparently Tony, it only caused problems for BACS wage payments, and not all people expecting wages were affected.
Ah right I see, sam. My wages are payed through BACS, but that was Tuesday. Not sure how my other monthly payment is made ( Ist of the month which is Monday a Bank Holiday as you know ), will have to find out.
Yes, I have been self employed.
I'm just curious Sam- has your wife got two jobs then (one self employed, one employed) or had she switched from self employed to employed at some stage in the last year or so?
