Afternoon,

I am spending my bank holiday helping a family friend get their credit score. We've got it and it's a "fair" score.

Is there a way to clear up items on the report, to improve the "score"? She has a couple of missed credit card payments (by a day!) and because she is a sole trader the % of borrowed available credit it probably higher than it might be if she had separate business accounts.

So, is there a way to do some tidying up? All suggestions/advice welcome.

I think the only way to improve a credit score is to maintain all payments on time unless of course there are mistakes on their records.
Check any existing credit cards and accounts have been officially 'closed'.
Check for 'associations' on the credit file - if she has an ex partner whom she may have lived with - even if a partnership has dissolved their credit score can affect your own.

Associations are all fine. I was hoping for a "here's why this was late, can we forget about it please" form!
