How do I hire one and how much do they cost?
I have the idea for my website. I am planning how much I need to raise for the professional website maker and paintening it.

How long is a piece of string?

Some web designers will produce a very simple website for £50 or less. Whereas a major business requiring a professional website which simply provides information (rather than needing to offer a great deal of interactivity with its users) might pay £5000. If you want something which offers a great deal of interactivity (e.g. accepting user input from mobile phones) you might have to pay 10 times that.

Any you can't patent a website (of that's what 'paintening it' is meant to mean). You'll automatically hold the copyright in its content but you can't prevent anyone from creating a roughly similar site:

I'd patent it before you paint it if I was you!
Personally unless what you have in mind is very complex, I'd do it yourself- there are so many wysiwyg builders out there now that you can have a very sexy looking flash siute with no bother or experience at all.
