My wife booked a holiday over the phone with my card and I've just found out. We had been discussing it but I hadn't decided, got leave from work etc.
I thought a company had to speak to the cardholder?
She paid the deposit, which I know is supposed to be non returnable and the holiday isn't until Dec but is there any way I can approach getting my money back? Ideas welcome

i suppose youd get your money back if you reported it as fraud to your card ussuer
Send wife out to earn holiday money.

Y is ur woman dependant on ur income only?
Why shouldn't she be?

He hasn't given his personal history. She might be at home with 10 kids for all you know.

Also....some men want their wife to stay home....!!!
the OP didnt say his wife had no income or was dependant on his anyway. For all we know she may have a job and earn a kings ransom, the question was about her having used his card without his knowledge.

Thanks redcrx.... we always use my Amex Plat for travel. I just didn't know someone could make a booking over the phone without at least speaking to the cardholder for confirmation......
If your wife has no authority to use the card then this is fraud and you could demand a reimbursement. However, Amex could then take action against your wife to recover the money. If she is dependent on you she will ask you to pay it.
Are you angry with your wife Pained?
pained....I presume you prefer ur wife dependant on you - therefore surely she has equal access to your income. Amex think like me ;)

Not enough to make her pay for it - that's defeating the object a bit.... same difference at the end of the day, I only wondered if I could moan to the holiday company that they shouldn't have taken payment from someone clearly not the cardholder, I'm dammed if they're getting my money for nothing so we'll just have to go I suppose.
This is all pretty simple, I'm not sure why it's gone off at a tangent about wive's independence, etc.

At the end of the day she either had your permission to use the card or she didn't. If she did then there's no problem (though it's probably technically an abuse of the card because you aren't supposed to let someone else use it). If she didn't then she committed fraud but the only way to get your money back is to report her for it which will inevitably lead to a criminal investigation and potentially prosecution. I guess you don't want that.
The wife's independence was mentioned because one way or another pained is going to have to pay!.
