Hi,
I am wanting to open a credit card with Capital One (only one I can see that has a 0% balance transfer fee at present) that I can use to pay off my partners overdraft of �1,500 so his salary is not being eaten up by his overdraft every month (graduated this summer and lives in London, so needs a break!).
Will they allow me to do this (i.e. as it is not my current account).

the problem wont be that it's someone elses account, but it's likely they will treat this as a cash advance, thereby not attracting a "balance transfer" rate - just ring them to ask though
Think twice before you take on someone elses debts.
It would be better to for him to open another bank account and have his salary paid into this 2nd account, then make a standing order every month into his 'old' account so gradually paying it off. Or better still discuss it with his bank and agree either a personal loan or to authorise the o/d and agree a schedule to reduce it without the hugh unauthorised o/d fees.
i would take advise from sammy 84 that was posted after your post, gosh were do these gullable people come from
