My daughter-in-law mentioned on the phone last week that my son had passed  quite an amount of blood when he went to the toilet. She said that evening was not the first time it has happened. She thinks it might be stress? They are both 21, disabled, married with their own home, 2 dogs, new baby(3 months)and he is in his 2nd year at University and he runs the household. He is very unfit and overweight, he can walk but with difficulty, but he overeats and that has got worse since he left home at 17. He has also got very high blood pressur for the past 2 years. Could this be connected or could it be a seperate serious problem? He also has mood swings(always has had) and gets highly agitated and aggressive, which could cause the blood pressure?

marion29 - You are obviously very concerned about your son, so couldn't you or your daughter-in-law encourage him to see his GP - ASAP.

You don't say from which end he is passing blood, but even if we did know, we wouldn't be able to offer the necessary professional advice he would get from his GP. Good luck.

passing blood when going to the toilet is not a normal occurrence and should be treated seriously. He should visit the Dr asap as any changes like this indicate a problem which needs proper qualified medical diagnosis. Please make sure he visits his Dr.

Please try and get your son to see his GP as soon as possible as blood in the urine or faeces could suggest a serious problem that needs urgent medical attention.

For all medical questions, we strongly advise you to seek professional advice from your doctor or a healthcare professional.  Please do not rely on, or wait for, advice from Answerbank users.
