Any Advice Would Be So Welcome

I’m sat here nearly crying
For the past three weeks I have been to the gym with a PT. I even got sent home early on Monday’s session as I was sick - I hadn’t eaten enough. I also walk to work every day 2.9 miles 3 times a week plus lots of other walking
This weeks diet has mostly been 6” veggie subs - so why aren’t I losing any weight - in fact I’ve put some on. I have an appointment with the doctor on 14 Oct and I want to see someone further about this - I am prepared to pay BUT I don’t know who to ask to see - a nutrition- one of the private clinics? I really would appreciate any help or advice at all - I’m at my wits end

perhaps you need a full physical check up BEFORE you start such a regime ? I find cutting out carbs altogether, which can be difficult, works well for me...but prepare boxes of chopped carrots, cucumber for snacking.. I go on a veggie only with cottage cheese for a bit of protein diet..salads.. and the odd apple..sugars in fruit are best avoided.... and remember muscle weighs heavier than fat ! if you are exercising you will need some food inside you... I don't do any exercise when reducing food intake as it can leave you drained and weak.. just my amateur observations..don't lose heart and take good care xx

I cannot cut out carbs but eat only good ones
Low carb won’t work for me as I have high cholesterol so can’t increase my fat intake
When I was sick in the gym on Monday I had eaten 5 prunes and a cauliflower steak with a fat free fromage frais topping - when I told my trainer he told me I hadn’t eaten enough and should have increased my fat intake
Worked out on Wednesday and was fine
IMO exercise is mostly for health & fitness rather than weight loss. Clearly every little helps but you need to do a lot to burn off calories in a small amount of food. Do exercise, sure, it increases the metabolism apparently, but concentrate on input.

Different things suit different people but energy intake is the traditional way to make a difference. Sure vegetables are usually low in calories but eat enough and they add up. Plus what do you have with them ? Always try to keep a running total of calories eaten noted as you go, to encourage you to keep to a daily allowance.

Go easy on the high calorie foods. But to avoid being depressed treat yourself occassionally and enjoy it.

And the doc visit is good to ensure the excess weight is fat not something else. Also if you want dietary advice why not join a slimming club. Weight Watchers helped me a few decades ago, although I slipped back up gradually when I left and had a few family tragedies.
Exercise tones you up so you appear slimmer.

What have you been drinking?
Doesn't seem too bad to me. But you need to check your whole day.

I cut carbs and do low fat.. why do you think you need to increase fats if low carbs ? loads of veggies for main meals and porridge for breakfast made with water and no additives other than losalt... works very well I also take a multi vitamin whilst dieting ... you could supplement with a protein drink... but I would personally advise diet without the fitness regime first of all...
Water has zero calories, drink plenty; 2 or 3 glasses before you eat to 'fill you up' & also throughout the day whenever you feel hungry.
Minty's advice about salads & veg. is okay too, but the carrots & celery don't have to be raw, they contain the same amount of calories (maybe even less) when boiled.
Keep away from Subway.
Ric - do you have much weight to lose?
perhaps you should measure yourself rather than weigh yourself, all that exercise will be building up muscle (which weighs more than fat). You can be far slimmer in size when toned up rather than just trying to reduce calorie intake.
100 agree Prudie. The gym I used to go to advised on measuring rather than weighing and to only weight yourself once a week at approx the same time.
Also make sure you are weighing yourself at the same time of day, preferably first thing when you get up.

I’m actually sat in M&S cafe now waiting for a bacon sandwich- something I haven’t had for ages
I’m not feeling too good at all today - we have had something going around the office all week so I guess it’s my turn to get it

The trouble with measuring is, are you always equally relaxed every time ? It's all too easy to inadvertently breathe in or out, tense muscles, etc..
As Prudie said, muscle weighs more than fat so you may be losing inches rather than weight, but, I hope you don't mind me saying this, you don't seem to be eating a balanced diet. If you can find the time, sit down and write out a diet sheet choosing healthy foods that you like, and try to eat regularly. Also, keep an eye on the portion sizes. It might be healthy food, but you still have to eat it in moderation. Good luck.
