Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

How spooky is that the 1st of Octoebr and the weather starts to really turn cold? Hope you have been enjoying that little Indian summer in September now it is time for jackets and warming food.

We could talk about soups and stews (and let's face it we probably will) but I thought a nice change would be stir fry recipes.

This is a wonderfully diverse meal where you can add pretty much anything you like and serve it with anything you like noddles or rice for a lighter dish or crusty bread or even potatoes for something a bit more filling.

Here is one that looks really tasty:

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

I'll pop around for a visit and a large portion of bake ;-)
Maydup.....what about some Philadelphia Light cream cheese in the troughs of celery
You're very welcome OG :-)
Well done Maydup and OG. I'm having a big problem with will power at the moment. I know what I should be doing, but feeling weak. I'm going to drink lots now, so I don't over indulge on my evening meal.
Mmmm phili and celery - I could live on it! That's my lunch sorted for tomorrow.
Well Marijn as Wendilla always says.....if you don't have it in the house you can't eat it...that takes care of a lot of will power.
Well done Maydup. Naughty step for me with 1lb on this week. Back to the drawing board!
Tut tut Jan ;-)

Er yes x, that's my philosophy re celery, sesame, cucumber, poppy seeds, raw salad veg, peanuts, etc. etc. etc.
LOL OG
You're right Xstitcher, but yesterday the naughty things I ate were at a meeting at work, and they were put right in front of me. I know that only accounts for one day. I must pull my socks up!
I think you would have to have an iron will not to have some tastes when in that situation marijn.
Thanks :)
Good Morning All,
Another week, another weigh in and another "stayed the same" result. I have been on a course of antibiotics where I must eat something before I take the pills and perhaps I have misunderstood that a mini meal was not what the doctor meant! lol.

I must say thank you to all our faithful followers who are here week after week. I can't imagine NOT having this place to meet and talk about our problems and successes.

Speaking of problems......did you make a decision on getting a new scales OG?
Morning well surprise surprise just under 1lb loss . I have been good with meals .But did have bacon on toast yesterday but that of course is my grandsons fault being here on term break and had those lovely hot crumpets from asda last week which I forgot to put in the freezer. Xstitcher you know you will get back on track when course of tablets are finished.
Morning all and well done Wendilla, on the move again. Enjoy your week with your grandson.

Get well soon xstitcher, (I recommend a portion of yoghurt with each antibiotic tablet, it helps settle the stomach.)

No change for me is week. I had a guilty work breakfast of croissants and jam yesterday. Once i started there was no stopping me. Grrr!
Thanks for the yogurt tip Maydup. I finished the pills yesterday (sinisitus) but I will remember for the next time as I get it frequently.

Well done you Wendilla. That is good.
Up ⅞lbs :-(

Same old story x, I looked, didn't see any I felt comfortable about. I guess I've just lost confidence in them all. Past experience suggests they are all either imprecise and/or inconsistent and/or inaccurate and why go through the disappointment of ordering more I'd be unhappy about ?

For what it's worth I discovered strain gauge design types work better on carpet than other designs. Might look out for that type since it'd give me more options on where to site them.
Maydup don't think I could have resisted the crossiants either . Isn't it terrible when the devil takes over. Xstitcher suggested I weigh on Tuesday next week as that afternoon I am going for a girls afternoon out at a very old historical place for afternoon tea. OG put new scales on top of Xmas pressie list and Santa might surprise you.
If you can remember back to winter/spring OG we were having problems with our scales. Hubby went on a scales exploration and came home with a cheap one that runs on AA+ batteries. I snickered and was of little faith.......they are the best ones we have had to date....easy to read and seem to be spot on, so you see it is not always what you think will be good that tick all the boxes.
I'm with wendilla this week with a 1lb loss, definitely slowing down and fed up with yoyoing at the moment. Been making soup the last couple of weeks so tempted to buy myself a soup maker but not decided yet as they are a bit expensive.
