Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Well we were lucky with the weather this summer weren't we? So I hope loads of tasty salads made it into your day. Now we are heading into autumn the kids are going back to school and for some this means a thankful return to no tempting snacks in the house.

But sometimes you just need a little something to keep you going until dinner so how about some ideas for healthy snacks (thanks again xstitcher) to fight the cravings and keep us on track.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

Here is my idea for a snack which I do eat.

A handful of almonds or another nut of your choice. I find them really filling and only need a handfull to keep the hunger pangs at bay.

Obviously not for those with an allergy though.

Have a look at this:

Is it September already ?!? Oh my gosh I must have to visit the dentist tomorrow then !
I like carrots sticks dipped in houmos or guacamole. Maybe not too good for weight loss I suppose eh? I wish everyone on diets a VERY good week. Good luck to you all. xx
Thanks ed......

OG not actually September until Sunday so don't go to the dentist just yet :-)
We could dip our carrot sticks into a lo fat yogurt flavoured with our favourite spices.....and/or sambol olek...luv it!!!!
How's it going with your root canal treatment OG? My tooth has 3 roots....I'm a mutant! I was there yesterday and go for the last time on the 16th Sept.
I kept forgetting to say thank you for the idea Janbee. I like a handful of pumkin seeds.....just the dried out natural ones....not the roasted as they are sky high in things we shouldn't eat. They have a lovely nutty taste. Thanks to you Ed I will now eat nuts now and then ..... if I can keep down to a handful...
Sorry, forgot to post on Wednesday but stayed the same this week. I have been invited out for a Chinese buffet meal tomorrow so will try and be good but know I am going to find it hard. Oh well, don't do it very often so may just may make the most of it.
Chinese buffee Jan my favourite. Happy Birthday again can't remember which day I seen it on AB.
Same state as the last time I posted xsticher. Thanks for asking. The root bit is actually done, although to me honest I'm now feeling sensation which I wasn't expecting and wonder if some of the root is still there. Come Monday I'm to have the cap fitted, and pay the horrendous bill.

Molars usually have 3 roots. My dentist initially found just 2 and said some only had 2. Then a further inspection found the third very close to one of the others.

Hmmm... talk about dentistry on a diet thread eh :-D

Glad it sounds as if yours are getting sorted finally.

Meanwhile I'll butt out of the salad discussion (yuk !). Chinese buffet sounds nice though, but it sound like one of those once per 6 months type treats, to me. They have a pleasant Chinese buffet place near me. Can be variable though (he says having only been about twice). It can be good, but sometimes I think they don't have the turnover and the food seems not quite the same somehow.
Good Morning All,
The scales went mad again so found a very old one that has a dial and according to it I am just the same. I am sticking to vegetables for snacks so had no qualms about having a piece of carrot cake yesterday.
You're a day early but congrats on not going up. I suspect I will have again tomorrow, but we'll see.
Hello everyone, I've been away for a while. I'm going to weigh in tomorrow. I like fresh fruit as a snack, all chopped up and mixed together.
Thanks for telling me I'm a day early OG. I have been on Wed. all day long....but for me getting the week days mixed up is normal procedure...always has been.
I am going in hiding for a week lol
Hi Mari, welcome back. Now, now Wendilla, hiding isn't going to help you know. Something went into your mouth that shouldn't have. Never mind you will be fine next week. You have showed us all time after time that you bounce back quickly.
Dust the naughty step. Here I come. 1 lb on .It's all that eating out and treats when my grandson is here during the school term holiday. No excuse now as back to school and he is not here so often.
