Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

How spooky is that the 1st of Octoebr and the weather starts to really turn cold? Hope you have been enjoying that little Indian summer in September now it is time for jackets and warming food.

We could talk about soups and stews (and let's face it we probably will) but I thought a nice change would be stir fry recipes.

This is a wonderfully diverse meal where you can add pretty much anything you like and serve it with anything you like noddles or rice for a lighter dish or crusty bread or even potatoes for something a bit more filling.

Here is one that looks really tasty:

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Hibernating till next week .

Ah that's ok then. It was whole sea bass for dinner both Saturday & Sunday (and loads of bones bones bones !) £2 each from Asda. So much for me going for fillets in the future.
Good Morning you lovely people,

Hmmm stayed the same. I thought I was well on my way down but then got a nasty sinus infection which threw all thoughts of good food out the window and I have existed on food that is easy to make so I was lucky to stay the same!!
Hibernating till next week .
I'm delighted with a 3lb loss this week. Its a mystery why for weeks and weeks of trying hard during the summer I had little or no loss, then all of a sudden and despite cheating a bit this week, I have had much more success in Sept/Oct?

It takes me to my next half stone milestone which is fantastic.

Oh Wow Maydup. I'm so pleased for you and can imagine the high you must be feeling. Now.....no chocolate cake to celebrate lol!!!!
Didn't post last week but 1⅛ lbs down on a fortnight ago. Would have been more but the brisket had an effect over the last 24 hours :-)

Congrats Maydup.
Thanks xstitcher. No chocolate cake indeed, that is the danger isn't it?!

I have just made a salad to take to work for my lunch (its a mild day here) . I have cottage cheese sprinkled with pumpkin seeds, salad leaves, radishes, olives and cucumber. I'll take 3 black sesame rice cakes to have with it.
Thanks OG and well done to you to.
That's good OG. You can always slice up the remaining meat and freeze it in portions. I do that all the time.

I forgot to say Maydup that you are the perfect example of having the stick-to-itness that pays off in the long run. Shine your halo girl!!!!!!
Thanks both. None remaining. 490 gms before cooking apparently covers 5 sandwiches plus a small piece left over (which doesn't count when one finishes it as is ;-) ),

I think wendilla is hiding from the scales :=O

Amazing how folk's tastes differ. I'd not touch any of those items listed by Maydup (well except for olives). My idea of hell on Earth !
Well done Maydup I find that I lose more in the winter months than the summer but not showing effect yet lol . At least like Xstitcher I am keeping off the naughty step.
I like that lunch Maydup. There are different things to chew on make it interesting and give variation.
I think that I have come to the conclusion that I am going to cut my portions down ,i made individual portions of shepherds pie to freeze and I think I done too large portions as I felt bloated last night . So before I froze what was left I reduced them a bit.
Hard core vegetarian, that's me OG! My weaknesses used to be anything from the bakery counter, biscuits, cheese and desserts.

I've fought my battle with most of those and can eat the occasional item in moderation without going over the top, but I still have trouble reducing my cheese intake. If i've been naughty its usually down to a pizza or some cheese straws! I also have to remember to get moving and to keep hydrated.

Halo polished thank you and off for a walk round the block before I eat that salad. Whats for supper everyone.?

Chicken drumsticks and a mixed salad with a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar
I have no idea. Sat & Sun it was sea bass & veg, Mon & Tues it was beef sandwiches with tomato or mustard. Now stumped for Wed. Might do a potato with something. Or maybe rice with something. Can't think of anything exciting.
How do you do your sea bass OG?
Usually as they print on the bag at the supermarket ;-)

That said they missed the instructions last time. As I recall I slit the sides, sloshed over olive oil, salt & pepper, and whatever herb I had that was near at hand, shoved it in the oven at, oh don't recall, 180 to 200ºC for about 20 to 30 mins.

Seemed to work ok. I like oily fish, I just wish the bones would drop out during the cooking process.
Your sloshing and baking sounds right OG...I hate bones too...
How about jacket potato with baked beans and portion of leafy veg OG?

I know, you'd rather eat worms!

I'm having a bean, leek, courgette and tomato bake with either rice or jacket spud and steamed kale.
