Ratter, you're never weighing yourself daily? You know that's bad don't you.

I hate outdoor exercise, I just can't ride a bike or enjoy a walk, too easily distracted. I'm only able to to do it in the gym, unless the weather is really nice and I can swim outdoors and then that's awesome. Nothing I can do out of the gym gets my heart rate up enough, Im on my feet all day with work but unless I go virtually carb free and hit the gym 4-5 times a week i can hardly maintain my weight let alone lose. Gardening's alright!

I'm following the Paleolithic diet at the moment. I cheat and have coffee though :P
Goodsoulette, yes I weigh daily, I know what people say about weighing daily but it works well for me, it really keeps me motivated.
It really keeps me depressed !
But not knowing would be worse.
Well, well done you, I do it weekly. I jump on the scales at work, I wont keep them in the house or I would never be off of them. Plus I don't think that any of my floors are even enough. I'm with Old geezer, it keeps me depressed but really looking at my thighs in the mirror should be enough for that :S
I really think it is down to the individual, If my weight has dropped it encourages my that I am doing it right and succeeding if my weight goes up or remains the same It is reminder that I need to try harder. If I saw a big gain at the end of the week I would find that I have wasted a whole week! rather than just a day, I would find that depressing. It's all about how we as individuals deal with it I think. Horses for courses and all that....
Welcome Goodsoulette are you going to be joining us weekly . Xstitcher and I started these posts well over 2 years ago. We lose some we gain some. We don't judge we just give one another a few tips of what they are doing and normally come here on a Wednesday. We find the best way to lose is to eat healthily cut down on the fat and the crap. To lose it too fast you will put it back on as twice as fast. I swear by a small glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice every morning as this helps to break down fat BUT some people with certain medications can't take it so it is best to check. Also to go Carb free is not very good for you. You need a certain amount. Hope we will hear from you on Wednesday. Good Luck.
Aye Ratter, but there again you seem to be doing really well. On joining this thread you were heavier that I, and now you have shot past, so you probably get more days with good news from the scales than some of us.

(Anyway down another ⅛lb today, just hoping I've achieve a large enough buffer for the weekend ..... still up 1lb since last Friday though.)
Hi Ratters I don't weigh daily but as you say it does let you know daily and you have not wasted a week. I will sometimes if I think I have gained I will weigh myself Sunday then I have a few days to rectify it but it does not always work out like that lol.
Well I get a certain amount of carbs because they aren't completely avoidable, I do eat parsnips and carrots but I avoid grains (unless Im really, really hungry and have a bowl of shreddies) and I never eat bread or potatoes now basically the simple carbs. I don't not eat bananas and things.

Yeah, I'll join in,why not. I've been thinking about the squat challenge, I'll let you know how I get on :D
The next few days I will gain weight due to my trip to Wales, the boredom on long drives make me crave high calorie foods. Im leaving about 1am for a night time drive.
I despair....yesterday I weighed myself to see if I was maintaining my weight ok, and was pleased to see I'd stayed the same, BUT today I have weighed myself and the scales are telling me I've put on two and a half pounds in a day?!?! I moved the scales to a different part of the bathroom floor and tried again, and they weren't lying!! How do those people who weigh themselves every day cope?
Marijn, I weigh myself every day and I find fluctuation in weight quite normal but not 2.5 lb lol, I expect to fluctuate around a 1lb I think that depend on state of bowel and bladder (full or empty) maybe you need to .... well you know!!
Ive gained 1lb but I think that is down to consuming vast amounts of calorie rich food on my day out in Wales yesterday, nose to the grind stone today!!
lol Ratter, the state of my b and b were empty yesterday AND today when I weighed myself, so I'm totally bemused at my 2 and a half pound weight gain in a day. It's annoying isn't it.
I had a curry last night, celebrating someone's birthday, so heavier today :-( - we're on holiday from the end of next week, so after the next Bank Hol, I'm going to give that 5:2 diet a go. I've got the book, that's a start :-)
Maryjn that is why I don't weigh daily it would really get me down if I saw these rises some days. I have been to a carvery for dinner today and I normally have Eton Mess but today I had caramel cheesecake maybe not so much work to do to get it off I hope before wednesday.Hope you have a nice holiday BOXTOPS.
Mmmmmmmmm caramel cheesecake yum! I won't weigh myself daily again.
Just catching up after a couple of weeks, and looking at the posts re daily weighing. I used to but since starting SW I never weigh at home, although when I used the wii it used to tell me, but it was usually wrong anyway. It's possible to cheat with that as well as you can tell it you've got heavy clothes, so I just don't bother now. I've had a good couple of weeks and lost the 2lb I put on straight away, and then a small loss last week. This week will be a challenge, with meals out and too much inactivity, so this is where I'm thinking of making a change and off to aquacise this evening. Good luck everyone; with the gloomy weather it's sometimes difficult to stay positive but keeping in touch with others does help!
GM Sheenamf yes it is difficult when the weather is cold I find this is the best time of year for me to get started again. I always weigh first thing in the morning before I get dressed that way I don't have to calculate clothes weight which I would probably get wrong anyway. I too have to be careful this week out to yesterday to carvery .Not the dinner that does the damage it's the afters.
Good luck with the change sheenamf. That sounds interesting. Will you tell us what it is when you have got it down to pat?
