Onwards and Downwards Continues in November 2014

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

With Christmas and party season on the horizon some of us may want to look our best for that special do. And while you are all doing a fantastic job in the weight department we mustn't forget that self-esteem also comes from within and a dynamite outfit can give a massive confidence boost. If we feel good inside we look good outside. OK enough pep talk here are a few links that you may find helpful when shopping or looking at your wardrobe:

This one is good for both men and women :-)

Here are some famous bigger men, Andre the Giant is my fav:-)

Here are some fantastic looking larger girls on pinterest:

This is good for shorter girls and I love that they have put both pics in so you can really see the difference in the style.

The main conclusion seems to be that shaped and tailored fitting clothes will flatter most shapes even if they are slightly fuller. So ladies and gents lets flaunt what we've got and show the world that while we are trying to change our shape we are still amazing!!

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

You should continue to eat a healthy variety of food types. Simply analyse if you are overindulging in one.

Congratulations LH. Always good to hear some of us are progressing well.

14 lbs Mari. Last time I was aiming for a waist size. Ended up with matchstick limbs.
14lbs sounds a lot better than 37lbs, aim for that instead. I think having your biggest meal at lunch time (because you've got more time to burn it off), and a light meal in the evening is the best way to do it, but it's not always convenient that way round unfortunately.
Possibly so. But limited lunchhour to get back, cook, eat, go back in, means a tin of soup and a bag of baked crisps are all I manage mid-day.
Most days I can't manage to have my biggest meal at lunch time either :-(
There is an old saying here....eat like a king in the morning, a prince at breakfast abd a poor man in the evening.
I'm amazed how full, and for so long, I am after an egg and veg stir-fry. The website I saw recommending this claimed he enjoyed the stir-fry for breakfast! I've had it for lunch and by evening I needed smaller portions to satisfy me.
I've stayed the same this week, but I'm not too disheartened. In the four months that I've been losing, I only stayed the same once before. I'm aiming to lose another 5lbs before Christmas, but not sure if I will manage that
Hi Jomlett I have had a look at some of the recipies . I don't think I could eat it for breakfast but no problem for lunch or dinner .
Don't worry about staying the same LYNDA better than a gain and if you are good this week you could see a result .
I used to enjoy big breakfasts when I was big and working, but now retired and getting bigger, Im glad to say I have a smaller appetite since my decision to lose weight this spring.
Ok I'll defrost the steak & chips for tomorrow's breakfast then.

Anyone know what Prince Charles has for lunch ?
A lot! The Prince of Wales was so fussy about his soft-boiled eggs that his staff would prepare up to seven for him every morning in the hope that at least one would be done to perfection. I dread to think what lunch has in store!
When I lived in Scotland many plus years ago I worked in the first aid dept of Gordonston and sometimes would help out in the kitchen . Prince Charles was there at that time and he complained about the soggy chips . Also the amount of cigarette ends we used to find on outside stairs at the back .
Why were you putting cigarette ends that you used to find on outside stairs at the back, in his chips ?
Prince Charles and his boiled eggs sounds like my OH!
