I have been dieting for a while now and have changed my eating habits quite dramatically, I only need to lose another stone or so to reach my ideal weight. As a result of my dieting I have also now started drinking green tea and herbal teas in an attempt to eat and drink more healthily.

Are there any proven facts about Green tea and herbal teas being so great or is it just advertising hogwash.

Im not a lover of fruit teas, they just taste like warm cordial, waste of time and money for me.

Also, are any particular brands of herbal tea better than others?
Hogwash..........drink for taste not for some imagined health benefit.
ooops! and well done Ratter....
some of them smell nice, but they all taste of nothing in my opinion
Whooooo......."Drink for taste".........I'm loving all these doctor's orders, Sqad. ;-) x

Ratter..well done! Gx
I'm also a green tea drinker.
It's supposedly good for 'detoxing' and also helps with digestion - although it's not helped me much in that department.

The nicest brand I have found is the organic clipper (think that's what it's called?) range.
My Mum buys her's from Holland and barratt and it's called something like green dragon, which is also nice.

Well done on the weight loss! :-)
IMO green tea does taste ..... unpleasant.

Thanks guys, I know what you are saying Sqad and im tempted to believe you but I also think it cant do me any harm, any health benefit is a plus I suppose.

I certainly pee a lot more, maybe it will flush some fat out as well lol.
Green tea can't hurt you so if you enjoy it then keep it up. I switched from copious amounts of coffee to plain water. One mug of normal tea (white) or coffee (white) contains 25 ish calories, if you drink a lot those calories add up throughout the day, water has zero calories :)
I have a herbal tea at nightime with verbena and cammomile and something else (can't remember); this helps me fall asleep. I don't like green tea but my late husband did and it's said to be good against bowel cancer and that's the cancer he died of! I think by varying your drinks means you're not getting too much of one thing and it's less boring.
I like Peppermint tea myself, Very nice!

Im drinking lemon and ginger now, very nice too!
OH swears by that flavour, or her current flavour of choice this week White tea. Can't say I'm stuck with herbal teas, but each to their own, Ratter, enjoy your cuppa. And well done on the weight loss :)
I have a cup or two of green tea every day - I like the Clipper brand, which i buy from Tesco - but I don't leave the bag in for very long.

They are excellent diuretics, other than this I agree with Sqad.
