I'm not doing so well with avoiding gluttony on the eating days.

I realise you asked your question days ago, but I've only just read it so ... I've done IF (intermittent fasting) for a while now and it works for me. I don't do a strict 5:2 though and I don't think you have to. Instead, on fasting days, I will skip breakfast, have a very light snack mid afternoon and regular dinner at about 6. I do this 2 or 3 days per week and manage it...

Why not just eat properly ALL the time instead of these fad diets?
Question Author
Because I enjoy eating food and drinking large quantities of beer. This is hard to do in moderation i.e. it wouldn't be a large quantity if I moderated it. Anyway bore off, interesting replies only please.
There is someone on here who is doing that diet. I don`t want to speak for him though. It can work. When I was on WeightWatchers I only did it for 6 days and had the 7th day off. The day off should just be confined to eating normally and not pigging out though.

I do this 2 or 3 days per week and manage it easily. I also don't eat much carbohydrates (sugar, bread, pasta etc) as this makes it easier to go a long time between meals. There's an article in next week's Radio Times which is really helpful and gives detailed advice. Hope this helps!
i am going to give it a go i think
I read an article about the 5/2 diet and it is fine for me but not appropriate long term for women as body comosition is different between men and women.
Im on the vodka diet - so far ive lost 5 days : )
I vote smo for best answer.
Just seen this page :) Yep, I am giving this diet ago - only started 2 weeks ago, but was impressed with Dr. Michael Mosley and the Horizon programme on which this diet was showcased around the middle of last year.

Seems ok so far... No real trouble on non fast days, and even the fast days do not seem too bad.

For those interested ( and apologies if this is duplicated, i Have not read all the posts here ) there is a facebook group as well....
