This is not a diet I would like to go on as the liquids meals I am sure would not fill me up.

The slimming pill Alli is out tomorrow and I'd rather pay 50 and take them.

I hope it works for you and don't give up since you've come this far.
I was reading about that pill. Is that how much it costs and how's it suppose to work?

No solid food diet is not a diet...it's a quick fix. You'll put the weight back on as soon as you start eating solids again. And some more as well.
Well I was reading the pharmacist have got to weigh you before you can buy the pills. I don't know how much you gotta weigh, probably a lot.

bf lost 2 stone in 10 days
mum 4 stone in a month

sandraseales, I tried Lighterlife which is very similar. I lost 4 stone in 3 months and put it all back on again over a period of time. Its a great quick-fix but thats all it was for me. I found as soon as i went back to solid food I put the weight back on far too easily. It works for some people and not for others.

I have since had a gastric band (which isnt the easy option people think it is) and I have lost 6 stone by eating healthily and exercising often.

Good luck with whatever you find is right for you.

I'm on slimfast right now and its good, re pill I found out about the new 'Alli' pill and after a good bit of investigation, would it to not be good at all

- lose hardly any weight at all on it, it stated some really small amount like 1 pound a month when most diets expect this in a week?

- It had side effects and have been proven to cause problems also makers have had other meds in the past they have produced kill people.

- they expect you to diet anyway 'healthy eating and workout' your bmi has to show you are overweight to take it.

- plus this is a watered down version of the type given by the doctor so its power is really limited.
The side effects for alli sound awful....you would need diapers.

My friend was on Xenical which is the diet pill prescribed by doctors. He lost a substantial amount of weight by following the instructions. Alli is the same, if you go over the recommended amount of fat they tell you to then the side effects will kick in.
Hi,

I tried the Cambridge Diet about ten years ago and found that it worked vey well for me.

The no solid food diet does take some getting used to but within a couple of weeks your stomach shrinks and you stop feeling so hungry. It also removes the temptation of just having another spoonful or another potato as when cooking for yourself.

I lost three stone in three months and I put very little back on. I think the reason that people say that they put all the weight back on when they stop dieting is because they immediately go back to how they were eating beforehand ie. overeating. This diet will shrink your stomach and you should find that even when you finish, you will need smaller portions of food to fill you up. I think a lot of people don't really know how much a regular portion is, they just fill a plate. I definitely think this diet is preferable to a diet pill, at least you are getting all the necessary nutrients! Pills are just the lazy way.

Good luck to you, anyway. I hope you stick with it.
Ive never tried the Cambridge diet but do know someone who has and it was very suucesful for them but she was dedicated. As with the Lighter Life, when you have lost the weight you need to you must follow the 'getting back onto solid food' plan because if you just start eating as normal again you will gain lots of weight back. However, if you start the maintenance plan when you finish you will introduce solid food slowly allowing your body to reclimatise itself. Whilst you may gain a couple of pounds, if you are strict until you are finished you should be ok. It's those who do not follow the slow introduction of food who regain all the weight they have lost

As for Xenical/Alli (both exatly the same pill - Orlistat) - this has been available OTC for quite a while now and is not new at all, it is just being marketed as a new pill (aren't they all!). The lower strength would be the better one to start with as the side effects are awaful - you will have anal leakage or thick, yellow oil that stinks to high heaven. To be 'entitled' to use this pill, the pharmacist will weigh you and meaure you and also take your BMI which must be at least 28.

Personally, I would see my GP first - on TV last night they were stating this pill cannot be used if you are diabetic, however, my best friend used this as her GP studied all the research and prescribed it for her as a perfect candidate - she is diabetic.

Using these pills correctly, which means following a low fat diet and doing regular exercise, will enable you to lose and extra 1lb per week oin top of the 2lb that you would lose following a low fat diet. I actually feel that it's not worth 50 quid per month to lose an extra 4lb! However, some people do, that would be your decision
I did this diet several times in th late 1980s. I lost a huge amount of weight in a short time - it all went back on of course. The third time I did the diet it didn't work because I couldn't actually drink the stuff - I wretched every time. Wouldn't do it now if you paid me. Happy being unfashionably plump.
I wouldnt sugest you use Alli *Orlistat is the origanal name in America* to lose weight. My mum had a friend bring her some back a few years ago from America and she had a really bad time on them. She was constantly on the toilet because the excess fat comes out with your stools. So you can probably imagine what it was like. Every hour she needed to go to the loo.. she suffered really bad headaches and stomach pains and although she lost the weight she put it back on again because the pills are a quick fix not long term. Now shes on a Slimming World diet and doing lots of excersize and has lost 6 1/2 stone on it and has only been doing it for 8 months. I would suggest healthy eating and excersize.
