We popped into the pub after a bit of shopping yesterday afternoon and my bf's cousin was in there. She told me how someone from the village had approached her that morning and told her she had seen my bf in town on Saturday with another girl, who was clearly more than a friend. It turned out that it was his brother and his new gf that had been seen and my bf was actually in London with my nephew all day. God knows how many people she had told that my boyfriend was having it away before she mentioned it to the cousin. I put something on FB this morning to debunk the idea, just in case others had heard and have already had one text from someone saying they had heard that rumour.

Now I did see the funny side of it but as my bf had been planning on going into town to get his hair cut before the football (although a hangover got in the way of that) it could have turned out to cause a fair bit of upset all because someone assumes they have seen something.

Why don't people just mind their own business? Bloody gossips.

Have you contacted the Jeremy Kyle Show yet?
your'e doing the best thing milly by laughing at the gossip mongers ;-)
People can't win though can they? If you're boyfriend had been playing around and no one told you, you'd be mad at them wouldn't you?
Yep, sounds like gossip!

She could have won though B00. If she thought something was going on then she could have told me or my sister (who she knows very well) before telling the rest of the world first.
All she's done, really, is made herself look a bit of a muppet..........I'd hazard a guess that this isn't her first-time as a 'gossip queen' ?
Give her a good punch in the gob, rip a lip, knock some teeth off; that'll teach her...
Bf's cousin is just as bad.

ha ha, I think I'll reserve physical violence until I'm really wound up.

Actually Mcmouse, you make a good point. I have learnt to never tell her a word because she can't keep her mouth shut. Although in a way I was glad she told me so I could make sure the rumour that was going around was quickly stopped.
Reminds me of my nosey neighbour...Forever causing upset with all the *** lies she spreads
How often these things cause strain on a relationship, unfounded gossip and rumour!. Thats why I stayed off Facebook for so long.

Facebook actually helped me in this case because I was able to make a little joke about while clarifying the matter well and truly for anyone who might have heard the rumour. I find generally the truth isn't so quick to come out.
