I have a hospital appointment letter for next week.

Usually I go and see the consultant psychiatrist. I
saw him four weeks ago and he changed my antidepressants (life is a living hell just now - worse so with the change of medication) and told me that I would get a letter advising me of the above appointment with another doctor and then another (for about 4 weeks from now) with the consultant.

The letter for next week says that doctor is a Dr XYZ "ST1 in psychiatry". I am curious (but not concerned) as to what the ST1 stands for.

Any body know.

Wasn't the Saint's number plate ST1 ?

Thanks - I thought that but the "T" was throwing me out.

I am sure he/she will know what they are doing. ☺
good luck wolf hope things pick up soon
Sqad617 I think to label an ST1 who on August 1st may have just completed foundation training, and possibly not know their arse from their elbows with regards to the specility is somewhat misleading and offensive to 'true registars'
Of course there are always those ST1s that have been an SHO/Staff Grade or even specialist registrars prior to MMC so I suppose they would be considered a reg. even as an ST1
Anyway wolf63 reagrdless you will be in good hands with regards to your care, the idea behind the ST structure is that there will be seniors available for advice should it be needed

I have been seeing a consultant for about 10 years - twice a year. During this time I have taken Lithium and Citalopram.

In February my consultant decided to change my medication from one type of anti-depressant to another.
This ST1 doctor (I was old enough to be his mum) was just taking details of how I was getting on with the drug (I hate the side effects but they will subside) going back to see the consultant in 6 weeks.

Having mental heath problems these days as we are not so ashamed of the illness. Things have progressed.

Thanks Squad, ruthann and MrXLA
