with your partner? My partner and I now live together, which has only recently happened, so we are still enjoying the newness of being together.

I have a 13 year old daughter who, as it is the summer holidays, gets up late and goes to bed late and sometimes gets up after we have gone to bed to watch tv.

Now we know that, apart from Friday nights, she could be awake at any time and so it is not a case of waiting for her to go to sleep. (Added to this problem the bed has acquired a squeek from somewhere).

Is she old enough to understand that what we are doing is ok, or should we avoid it until Fridays......................??

Fix the squeek, and try not to scream when making love. : -)
Do you know what I have posted a similar question on the parenting section!

I have spoken to a few people about this, and I think the answer is, set bedtimes...also I have the squeeky bed as do you...think im gonna pop down the shop and get some multi purpose oil lol! What a nightmare!
You can have your fun when she is out, surely? Arrange for her to visit friends or relatives for a few hours during the day.
start resetting her bedtimes in readyness for school, fix the squeaky bed or put the duvet on the floor and try there :D

How funny is that Lil75? I have just text my partner and asked him to remind me to find the WD40, for the bed!

Fixed bedtimes will be better when they are back at school.

Rtaxron, will fix the squeek, but luckily I don't scream! We are quite bad at being silly and giggling a lot though!
I don't see why you should stick to when she's out. If you don't want her hearing the squeak (and can't fix it), then start getting inventive. Aginst the wall, in the shower, whatever.

I remember all too well hearing my parents at it, of course I knew what they were doing, but it still made me cringe to hear it! They were far too old for that kind of nonsense ;o)

Thanks Ethel, look forward to the cricket season finishing so that we can be alone when she is still at her Dads!

Cazzzzz, have tried the duvet on the floor, with hysterical results............
The age old problem, it is down to attitudes. Are you bothered if you are heard, probably.
So don't do it when you can be.
It is not a sin to have sex but if you spend 4 hours shouting "Go for it big boy" it may take some explaining away, i know, I've tried.
And don't bother telling them you are playing Yahtzee, it gets you nowhere.

Lakitu you are so right, I remember banging on the wall when I could hear my parents at it, now I wish I hadn't! They were only having fun!

Topogigio, I am bothered, but I will think she is asleep and it is all clear and then we will hear her wandering downstairs! Although I am sure him indoors would love me to shout "go for it big boy!" I may try that this Friday. I am not sure that we will be able to continue anything after we stop laughing!
Hearing your parents is traumatic at any age i think. Wait til she's out or definitely cant hear you.
topogigo funny ha ha!!!!
I dont think parents should have to wait until a child is out, the child should go to bed earlier than the parents, although getting them to do it is the hard part

You're not wrong Lil75. The older they get the worse it gets. They turn in to noturnal creatures. The older I get the earlier I want to go to bed, but at least now I have a good reason for wanting to go earlier! ;o)

I wonder why they can't tolerate it like we tolerate their loud music or them picking their nose while we are eating?

One day they will realise!! I hope I am not too old to have fun by then!
My son is ten and goes to bed really late, not through me not trying but just cos he wont sleep...my mum told me the other day at his age I was in bed at 8, no tv's or anything else and had to go to sleep......god if I done that it would cause uproar, although im going to try and do the no tv thing after 9pm...wish me luck..im gonna need it!
put the duvet on the floor and ask your fella to put duct tape on your mouth! squeeky bed? check for a crushed mouse under your mattress!
It's bad enough for a child to hear their parents 'at it' - I think it's probably worse when it's mum and her boyfriend.

You are right to be considerate.
Hey :)

I was concerned how my daughter felt about this some years ago and actually broached the question (lol)

She was appalled (lol)

"You have sex?" she squealed (lol)

Kids eh?

Don't ask me, I'm still learning

Bb xx
Please please please wait until she is out, kids of any age should not even have the slightest inkling that the parents are up to something naughty in the bedroom. parents have never had sex ever! the stalk brings children in the window. I remember a horrific stack of condoms i stumbled across in my parents bedroom once i am scarred for life and probably need counselling!!!
It's alright being told to do it when she's out but when it's planned, it's not the same as just letting it happen. My oldest is 10 and is well aware of the S word so i know how you're feeling. What is it with squeaky beds!
This is the only time I have ever heard people say that they have heard their parents at it. All my friends have volunteered the information that they have never heard, and seen anything. When they are told that they have come from the Cabbage Patch they believe them. What age were they (and you) at the time?

Seriously though, in some of the hotels I have stayed in they have glued pot scouring pads to the outer side of the headboard to stop such noise. Did not score that night, so could not test out their innovation.

Not sure what the solution is if you are in a family room all together, and you want some fun then. Never have been a parent I would not know.
