Buy me a drink and I'll show you.
In the workplace? Yes, if you're a man and have any sense!
Only involves male to female incidents, female to male seems OK, so at least half of us can flirt away! Just don't play Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
No.
Knowing the difference between flirting and harassment is the key.

Totally agree with you Talbot.
Depends whether you want to live dangerously or not.

One girl's flirting is another girl's harassment.
Possibly. But then I was always under the impression that the point of flirting was to get to know someone -- which, presumably, includes getting to know what they like and what they don't.

Also, "context is everything".

What may be acceptable when you are out having fun with a friendly work colleague can look very different when you fall out with him/her a couple of years later and his/her memory gets very selective.

I'm glad I'm retired and that (as yet) no skeletons are rattling in my cupboard ...
very broadly speaking, flirting is verbal, and as long as it's not overtly sexual it shouldn't be a problem. But you should be wary of flirting with anyone you don't already know well.
Talbot, //Knowing the difference between flirting and harassment is the key.//

I’m not so sure that some women recognise that there is a difference. In the current climate, I'd hate to be a man.
Flirting's good - leching's bad.

Both men and women should know the difference and keep a sense of perspective.
//I’m not so sure that some women recognise that there is a difference.//

Men either..
Ummmm, true - but women are the accusers.
The trouble is in some cases the male and female brain operate on different levels.

I once said to one man in a situation 'Would you like a woman to approach you and do that?'

His reply...

'Phwoarr, not half, bring it on'.

I sighed and moved on.
i'd wait for a lady to flirt with me, then i'd consider i'm on safe ground, mind you i'm still waiting ...

... then you're on safe ground already, ael. Enjoy!
I will have to try and track down the woman who sexually harassed me so that I can ruin her life.

But then as a man I would not do that.
flirting isn't finished, knowing how to behave and what is and isn't appropriate seems to be what some men and women need to learn...

The vast majority of women don't track men down and ruin their lives, they sigh and move on.

There'll always be a small but vociferous number who shout out and that's what grabs the headlines.
