If it is was in the papers libraries keep copies of old newspapers for research.

They will probably only be local papers, and probably on microfiche.

If you need national papers then ask at the library, they may be able to help.

what sort of a case was it? I mean if it was in the ordinary Courts then you should contact the Court itself.  I would expect that it is unlikely they would have records going back that far though as they are usually only kept for 7 years.  If it was in the Court of Appeal etc then there is likely to be a record.

As courts are public places just go ask any solicitor. Those leather bound books in a solicitors office are basically EVERY case EVER in British Law.

Go to 1973 and look up something like Regina vrs X. Or Court of Appeal vrs X, or The People vrs X etc etc etc.

unfortunately not all cases are reported, if it came from the higher courts (more serious offenses) then it may be recorded - if it was from the lower courts (magistrates, county etc) the chances of any record being available is very small. give us some more details (names involved in case, date of case, court that heard case, offence) and i'd be happy to have a search around for you
