On my CV under the work experience section I've got the two weeks I did in the summer of 2009 and I've got the backstage crew stuff that I'm doing now. But nothing proper under 2010 which IMo doesn't look to good, BUT last summer I did a lot with cadets including my power level 2 certificate and first aid so i didn't have time to get a job especially with going away for a week on a boat and a week away to france.

Instead of having 2010 blank should i mention the boating qualifications, first aid certificate and the week away where we were working on the boat part of the time, rather than it looking as if I was lazy and did nothing that summer?

Yes definitely, you need to list your qualifications separately anyway, altogether, so yes, list those activities on your c.v.

Molly - get your education first - then write your cv
you could say what you were doing - having a holiday with your family?
Who is this CV for? 17 year olds in full-time education are not expected to have a lot of work experience.

I've got a section for qualifications where I listed GCSEs, A-levels and other nationally recognised qualifications i have such as first aid.

Then what about under a section of work experience and gaining other qualifications between the 2009 and 2011 work experience, mentioning all the stuff i did with cadets that summer including the first aid, power level 2, competant crew (rowing), offshore hand (power for a week in scotland), cook/ stewarding and anything else i remember . . .

My friend's the same age as me and he's had loads of jobs so far with gaps of no more than a couple of months on his CV and has just got another part-time job at a holiday park.
Molly you are only 17 your cv should be minimal dont overdo it, if you did no work for a year so what. How many of your age worked all that tima? not many i bet

Actually alex, that was a very long summer holiday from june to september and almsot all my friends had a least one part time jobs during that time, but i was too busy and i want to show that i was busy, not just being lazy. . .
Was he studying? if so how did he fit in all the jobs?
Best to tell the truth: "Working on Answerbank website" lol
Molly - you got a section? - as Prudie asked what form are you filling in?
Question Author
helen, please read what i type before you respond.

'Then what about under a section of work experience and gaining other qualifications'

And fyi, the away on a baot for a week was work experience as we had to actually run the baot in shifts, getting up at stupid o'clock in the morning and sometimes not going to bed until after 11 if we came into a harbour late . . .
I get school work experience CVs as part of my job and quite frankly I'm not interested much if they worked in the local paper shop or washed dishes in the pub.
Put stuff down but succintly (short and to the point) - remember it won't be read by ABers that lnow you.
I agree with the OP Molly, get your Education first then worry about a CV

alex he didn't do too good on his gcses and this january didn't do aswell as he wnated to on his a-level yet he's still getting jobs!

Tony, jsut a general CV I'll be sending to places for jobs in the summer.
do you mean 'boat' = sailing vehicle ?
Question Author
prudie, perhaps i should have mentioned that quite a few of the places I'll be sending this to will be 'boaty' places such as the broads authority . . .

I've got 11 gcses and several other quals already . . .
Molly you appear bright and alert on here so I am sure interviewers will pick up on this
