I've had a pain at the back of my head for a week now.

It starts at the very base of my skull, unilateral, and goes up the back of my head. The real sore point is the base of my skull. I have been lifting weights at the gym but the pain came on 3 days after the last time I had done so. A colleague at work has had a similar pain for the same amount of time - could this be a virus? Seems a bit odd that. Or have I somehow pulled a muscle - is it the trapezius muscle that is in that area.

Ibuprofen takes away the pain but there is always a dull ache. Should I avoid the gym for a while?

Yepp.....sounds muscular..............continue with the Ibuprofen and take a week off from weight lifting.

Question: Why would a middle aged woman take up weight lifting?
I've got something similar. Starts at the base of my skull and feel like it goes round the right side of my head to the front. Bit of an ear ache as well. I've also got stomach cramps...yesterday they felt like contractions. I puked my guts up as well...

Mind you, I heard Salla is not so much over the hill as a speck on the horizon lol
It's not weight lifting as such Sqad....it's toning.

that's made my head pain even worse...

It's part of my fitness regime sqad - my PT (personal trainer) has me lifting weights - bar bells & dumb bells. Not so much to build muscle, but to tone.
ummmm "lifting weights" to me is weight lifting.

salla.....no ....still dont understand...........toning is an abracadabra term and does not mean anything to me.......except possibly muscle building.

Why would a woman want bigger muscles.....(pelvic muscles excluded ;-)

To prevent the formation of bingo wings sqad. Or chicken wings, whatever. I don't want my arms to wobble when I'm dancing with my hands in the air - as is my wont.
(Or waving goodbye to Mrs O as I go over that horizon.....)

I didn't say I had fat arms you cheeky s0ds - I said I want to prevent fat wobbly arms.

Prevention is better than cure. Apparently.

Weight training is supposed to help prevent osteoporosis... so we should all be doing it...
Mr O bought me one of those stand on power plate machines for Xmas - it tones brilliantly and is good for increasing bone density - not that I need it at my young age lol

So I have now revised my comment to:

"Weight you have lost....fat arms you have forever......but no Osteoporosis"

Can anybody define "toning " for me?
Toning gives your muscle a better shape without building it up. So you'd do more lifts but using a lower weight.
