I have not seen anything like that in ages

rules if you are new -
1. DONT make a joke for a few weeks
2. DONT put your 1st question in chatterbank
3. DONT ever start a post with 'I'm new here...'
agree

plus stroppy Eds and sanctimonius racist and homophobic twaddle that pervade many a thread - and finally the name calling that can arise around such threads and destroy any senmblance of debate.

However, there are good points raised, hunour and wit, recipes etc, advice and answers to quizzes, crosswords and the downright bizarre/trivia.
Oh I forgot 4. DONT make a spelling mistake
and the lack of Garth Brooks links
Don't (LOL)
Fluffy's outrageous accusations.
I'm relatively new (compared to most)
at first i got a little upset when people seems to bypass my comments on CB but then i realised that obviously people have built up relationships and know each other well. but i presevered and now i like reading the banter and sometimes i even join in lol
lol steve, outrageous china, justified more like :-p
I rest my case !! I never use 's when typing
In fairness, I think a newbie with a sensible username (nothing too risque) asking a sensible question in more or less good English gets good replies.
Anything a bit 'off' and a newbie is shredded to bits, sadly.

Would people be so brave, or rude, face to face? In my lifetime I have had to deal with people with very bad speech impediments (embarrassing for us both); deaf mutes (can't think what we are supposed to call them these days); heavy accents (why do I feel embarrassed?); and obvious mental incapacities (difficult) but it has never occurred to me to tell them to eff off, or mock them, or disbelieve them.

In fact I have more often than not felt useless and apologetic for not being able to either understand or help.

Why is it so different here?
crosswords and his hate of Norfolk lol
