I probably have Seasonal Affective Disorder. Friends have recommended using a light box yet use of these have not been proved effective by NICE. What do people think?

My late aunt used to use one, and found it useful. I don't have more information but my cousin said she certainly benefitted by having one.
Can't hurt might help
Yes, definitely. Mine has changed my life.
Would not like to say, but have heard that they are very expensive; some of them costing more than £200 each. I would ask the advice of the people in the know about this, our fellow ABers. Can anyone recommend a light box to Crystal Lady here?
I know at least two people who find them indispensable. There are a lot out there now, some very expensive, some desk top variety. Can't exactly recommend one as I haven't used one.
would prefer to spend the money on two weeks on a nice greek island !
Had one for about 5 years, and use it throughout the winter - certainly makes me feel a bit better even if is a phsychological thing.
You can buy 'daylight' bulbs in art shops- they are faintly blue-tinged and emulate true colours outside, so artists can judge their colours accurately. Apparently these work well and have a similar effect to the lightbox- and will be much cheaper!

Think you can get energy saving ones now too.
You really need one that's 10,000 lux. Have a look at this
