I read today that a woman had returned a Jack Russell pup to a rescue centre after only one day, as it clashed with her curtains. Am I alone in my total disgust ?

I agree, but not the first time I have heard this type of thing. I know someone who had a white cat to match the carpet, although to be fair, they did love the cat.
She doesn't deserve a dog anyway then. I hope they don't let her take a different one.
I remember a case a few years ago, where a couple with a beautiful Irish Setter got rid of it because it didn't match the upholstery in their new car. I thought then that it was just a one-off incident, but obviously not. I hope this woman is never allowed another pet...ever !
I heard something like this a few years ago. How pathetic and stupid can a person be with such thought processes..
Probably a blessing she didn't keep him.

Can't help but wonder what colour she thought her curtains were in the week long visits she did beforehand.

Silly cow.
It is a disgrace, surely she knew what colour curtains she had. The poor dog must be very confused.
are you serious?
a wind up story surely ?
What a stupid b!tch!!!!
Poor Harvey, thinking he'd found a lovely new home - did this woman not know what colour her curtains were, before she took to the dog? I hope they told her what an unfeeling person she was - not fit to keep a pet, IMO.
My tabby cats are the same colour as my stair carpet where they often sleep, perhaps I should rehome them because they are a health & safety risk....
I wonder what kind of human assessment program the shelter has...
it always absolutely astounds me the amount of dog owners who don't walk their dogs. A friend of mine on FB put as her status last week "just taken beanie out on her first walk this year" to which someone replied "wow she must have a big bladder" to which the owner replied "since we got the dog flap, i've just gotten so lazy"
The dog is a pit bull type, and they have two small kids in the house. in my opinion no exercise plus this is a recipe for disaster
A bloke i worked for suggested in all seriousness that putting pets kennels and catteries during holidays was a waste of money - have them put down and buy new ones when you come back. Didn't like him.
Mosaic - words fail me.

The amount of dog owners who buy a dog then leave the poor thing home alone all day whilst they work are the ones that bug me. Dogs are pack animals, they need company and hate being left alone for long periods of time. The dog then gets distressed and barks at every little thing annoying all the neighbours who are home for whatever reason.

I'm one of those neighbours who has to listen to a very large and lonely GSD bark all day every day and it drives me to despair sometimes.
OMG Mosaic, thats just...........well I can't find the words to describe it quite frankly.

The only good thing that can be said, is that the coverage in the media will ensure that Harvey will attract many real carers, one of which will give him a proper home, irrespective of the curtain colour. Good luck to Harvey, and eternal shame on the heartless bitch who rejected him.
