I had my ears syringed about 12 weeks ago. Ever since then I regularly get a dull ache in my left ear. I may have once perferated the ear drum in this ear but that would have been about 20 odd years ago (and I don't remember it which is why I only say 'may'). It's not excrutiating pain which is why I haven't been to the docs. Any ideas?

p.s. sorry for all the spelling mistakes.

Nope, none of the things you have mentioned. I do often have a a slight cough but I put that down to the smoking.
Ooops milly ....I forgot....any impaired hearing in that left ear?
Milly go to your GP!!
Question Author
No more since before the syringing. I've always had a very mild hearing problem in my left it which required lots of sitting in big boothes with beeping headphones on at one time, but this hasn't got any worse.
OK...nothing sinister comes to mind.......take Ibuprofen 600mgms at night.....monitor the situation for a week then get back to us.
Milly please go to yout GP for a proper diagnosis, taking 600mg of ibruprofen at night, particularly on and empty stomach, can cause gastrointestinal problems, and will only reduce any inflamation (if there is any) and relieve pain, it will not treat any underlying symptoms . And yes sqad I am am medically qualliffied Chaffinch RGN, BSc !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Question Author
Will do, thanks.
Chaffinch....medically qualified or not....anyone is entitled to their opinion on AB.

P.S Chaffinch RGN, BSc..........cant see a medical qualification there.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Sqod RGN = Registared General Nurse !! and you give medical advice!!
Chaffinch...we are not talking about me......we are talking about you.

<<<Chaffinch RGN, BSc.<<<

I repeat where is the medical qualification there?
The medical quallification is I am a registared general Nurse = RGN, with a degree in Nursing.

And you ?? paramedic I guess, just my oppinion, but as you don't know what an RGN is it does make one wonder
Chaffinch....you said:

<<<And yes sqad I am am medically qualliffied Chaffinch RGN, BSc<<<

<<<I am a registared general Nurse = RGN, with a degree in Nursing.<<<

So you have a nursing degree, but not a medical qualification.

I guessed that as you contradicted Prudie about oxytetracycline not being an antibiotic.........however, I thought even a nurse would know that it was.......!!!

I believe Sqad is a retired GP.

I appreciate any advice I get on here from whoever it may be. As I said, I hadn't been to the doctors as it hasn't been unbearable pain, more of a dull ache and I'm one who would prefer to seek some other answers before taking up the time of my GP. I will be going to see the nurse next week for a top-up of my contraception so if it is still bad then, I will mention it to her
Yep your a paramedic who uses google to give out bad advice bye bye
Question Author
oopps, sorry Sqad if you were purposely witholding that information.
Bye! bye! Nurse.
lol get back to Wikki
milly....don´t worry. Chaffinch is way off.
Question Author
Chaffinch, I don't know if you have seen many of Sqads postings but he is quite renowned oh here for giving very good and acurate advice. People regularly come back to keep him updated and thanks him for his instructions on what to do.
