Annoyed at my sister's 'friend' . . .

My sister's best friend's sister (who my sister has socialised with in the past) has just had a baby. She saw my sister and her baby about a month ago and now she's just had her own baby . She has copied the name my sister has given to her daughter (and the middle name too!!!). As you can imagine, my sister is livid and my sister's friend is really embarrassed about it. It's not her fault and she told her sister not to copy the name. Copying the name would have been bad enough but to use the same middle name takes the biscuit.

Anyway, I want to think of something I can say on Facebook which basically says it's out of order, I want a good quote about imitation or just something good I could write.

My sister wants me to do this so it gets back. I know this might sound really silly but I'd be seething too if someone did this to me!!

Thanks

lol, I'd like to have been in class when the register was taken!
MissCommando, was I right re the name?

I was going to have a different name (Emma) but my parents saw it was a very popular name around the time I was born so chose something a bit different.

There were two of us in my year from my village with the same name, and middle name. Never bothered me in the slightest, nothing to be bothered about.

At the end of the day it's done and you'd be better rising above it and not stooping to the level of getting petty on Facebook. I cringe at a lot of personal comments on there which are obvious digs at others.

Is it worth potentially causing a load of upset over? There are two young babies which should be the main focus.
Get your sister to convert to Catholicism...you get to chose another middle name then. Problem solved.....well, after 12 years...
but don't they all choose Mary, ummmm?

;o)
no, for heaven's sake don't go getting into arguments about a baby's name. Nobody's stolen anything. There will be zillions of girls in the world with the same name, maybe even with the same middle name too; they're not trademarked. That's how absolutely *everyone* gets their name: their parents hear it attached to someone else, like it, and use it for their own kids. I've got the same name as a cousin of mine and neither of us has ever been the least bit bothered.

This is totally NOT worth starting a feud over, honestly.
this question really really made me laugh. Your sister and her friend are both so lucky to have healthy children, that yes, it does seem absolutely cretinous to start a facebook fued oer their names I especially liked the first answer. Perhaps you could remind your sister how some people aren't as lucky as her?
Lol Sara.....no, you can pick whatever you want :-)
How petty, haven't you more mature things to talk about?
Since theres nothing your sister can do about it, she has to try and forget about it and move on. She could always tell her best friend's sister how she feels, ask her why she chose the same names.
you could raise above it or you could post something like.........

I just bought this pram rattle set for my beautiful niece - thought I'd better post a link to it just in case anyone want to copy this as well (you know who you are!!)

OR

Confucius said there are three methods through which we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest....

Therefore I guess my sister must be noble as she reflected and spent time choosing the perfect name for her new baby whereas the cow that stole her ideas must just be easy!
how do you think your sister got the name? Do you think she may have heard it somewhere and liked it?
I can't believe this one's still going on!
is it lilly-ann by any chance? seems to be a very overused name at the moment just like the jack was used alot when i had my son, and joshua when my sister had hers etc etc. Get over it and grow up a bit, are you seriously saying you have thought about starting a war on facebook of all things because someone has the same name as your niece/nephew???????? come on its pathetic!
However annoying it is to your sister & you, I wouldn't do anything about it.

If your sister's baby was born first, surely anyone who knows her would realise that she thought up the name/s first.

Anyway, when people have copied things I have done & do in my life, I see it as a form of flattery & glad to have shown them a bit of flair, lol. ;o}.
I really want to know the name now! Unless your sister made up the name, she must've heard it somewhere, and if you type it into facebook you'll probably find that there are others with exactly the same name. I named my 1st daughter after a cat, who was named after a punk star's girlfriend. My second daughter's name is a variation of a very popular name at the moment....we are all influenced by other people - your sister must have good taste and the friend obviously has no imagination. Leave it at that!
