Is it true you can get tonsillitis without tonsils??
Someone I know had her tonsils removed at 7, she's middled aged now and her doc said she did have tonsillitis.
I was surprised at this!

No tonsils........no tonsillitis.
No appendix......no appendicitis.

I would also be surprised at the diagnosis.......well..........perhaps I would not ;-)

Thanks for answering sweetie. Apparently he said it's a myth and that you can get it, especially as she was 7 when she had them removed and she would have still been growing. Think it was like the tips of where they were, right at the back which were 'infected'. Very strange
i had my tonsisls removed many yars ago and was told recently by the doc that you can still get it as many years ago they just used to cut off the tops of the tonsils and not remove them as they do now
gina........what you are saying is that the removal of tonsils were inexpertly performed in the past........I might also add in the present.............and I would agree.

In that situation then inflammation of the tonsillar remnant can occur.
My husband had his tonsills out when he was a child and has been told one of them has grown back. So I take it they must have done the same thing to him. How strange.!
