My boyfriend was playing football about 3 months ago and went over on his ankle. He felt it pop out and back in again and it swelled hugely straight away. He went over to A&E who did an x-ray and said he had just damaged the ligaments. The problem is he is still getting discomfort from it and it still swells up if he walks for any longer then about 15 mins. It clicks alot too. Should he go back to the Docs or just leave it a bit longer?

3 months is a fair time to give a sprained ankle time to resolve, the swelling and clicking may indicate a loose body in the joint.
I would suggest that he returns to his GP next week.

He's always had problems with his joints. Had about 9 dislocations in the past but not on that ankle. Will try and make him go back.
