I am in my early fifties and have put on around half a stone which I can't seem to get rid of which all seems to be around my middle, has anyone got any good diets or exercise ideas they can share. Thanks.

you and me both its our age..apparently when we reach about 55 our fat cells start to shrink and it decreases..i have a book on this issue and it says..trim 600 calories from your present daily diet..increase your physical activity levels..dont deprive yourself of to many calories as your body will go into starvation mode then you wont move it at all..work out what you eat now then just deduct the 600 calories..with the summer coming you may stand a better chance of removing some..but even women that are rake thin add weight to this area..great isnt it if i buy jeans they are tight round the waist and baggy every where else..so nothing seems to fit properly..hope fully i may work some off in the garden..

Well I'm older than both of you at 57 & really try hard to drink at least 2 litres of weak orange/lemon barley water a day to flush out the old kidneys, making me feel better! I try walking instead of using the car (when convenient) &  run up & down the stairs as much as possible, especially when the Grandchildren are here!

Apart from all that &  know it's cheating - but the easier option would be to go for 'stretch' jeans!

Join slimming world! there are men and women of all ages and they guarantee you will loose weight, i think.
