Why is it that some people bruise really easily and some don't? For example, my boyfriend bruises like a peach. He knocked his knee (not overly hard) on the underside of a table and it came up the next day with a huge purple bruise but I'm sure you could hit me in the arm with a cricket bat and I wouldn't get the slightest bruise. It does annoy me a bit actually, no believes it when you say something hurts if there is no bruise.

What first comes to mind is a low platelet count and/or deficient levels of coagulating factors. Google "Hemostasis".
Excluding medical bleeding disorders, medication and old age with thin skin, then, just simple.....some people bruise more easily than others
Like me. Always have bruises from even the slightest knock. Don't know whether being really fair skinned has anything to do with it, in that they show up so much more.
Also got thinner skin now Sqad :o(
lofty....I never had you down as "thick skinned".........;-)
Smooth skin, sensitive skin.............yes!
Ahhh Sqad ;o)
I bruise very easily too. I've had all the usual blood tests to check why but they all came back as normal, my doctor said the same as Sqad, some people do just bruise more easily.
I bruise majorly too easily slightest touch and im bruised... but mine is due to hypermobility.
I bruise really easily too. Could be a number of things with me, I tend to have a low iron count and platelet count.

Never thought about the hypermobility thing, I'm hypermobile but never thought it would cause more bruising, more me just means bits of me can move more than they are supposed to though the arthritis has levelled though out a bit now haha!

I also blame my ability to trip over thin air :)

I went swimming once and decided to learn how to do some dives so was in and out of the pool a lot, pulling myself out at the side. Got home and I was absolutely black and blue all down my legs. It was just one of those things for me, especially as I liked the more extreme kind of activities, bruises were pretty much a way of life.

Mine take a long time to heal as well, same with wounds too.
I bruise easily too - got a lovely one on my shin where the dog wagged her tail on me!
I bruise so easily! got a huge one on my arm where I banged into the door handle over a week ago, just about fading now!.............
can i add to this thread too please?!

my mum is bruising really easily on her forearms now.
but theyre not the normal blue green bruises, theyre like dark red, blood bruises.
she marks at the very slightest thing.
im a bit concerned to be honest, incase its happening for a reason. (shes 67)
My one was dark red/black to begin with, now after 10 days it's sort of pink and fading, but I did bash it very hard on the door handle! Ouch it really hurt!.......shouldn't be rushng around so much!..........
Don't hit the BF then Milly!
I bruise easily too, usually on my arms and legs. I sked my GP about it because of some medication I was taking at the time, but he said I needn't worry it was any unexplained bruising on the body that I should tell him about.
