Started yesterday afternoon... have very obvious inflamed rash mostly down rt side of face and neck couple of patches on left few odd spots elsewhere on chest and upper arms spots are in clusters and quite raised almost like they are going to turn into old fashioned zits without heads not itchy but sore to touch haven't responded to anti histamine as my first thought was an allergic reaction to something.. the worst patch where the spots have joined looks almost like cellulitis . feel a bit off colour but normal temp at present went up a bit over night though My skin is usually really good and doesn't get spots at all even when I was younger...

Not bites as have been indoors most of time

If this carries on I will need to borrow Redmans V mask to go out...

Could it be stress related?

Hi rowan - that sounds nasty, hope Sqad is around somewhere for some answers - must admit my first thought was shingles and they can definitely be stress related, but I hope for your sake, that's not what it is, they can be very painful.

That was my second thought...will get one of my medical colleagues to check it out when I get into work today...good thing about working in a hospital...always someone you can mug for a bit of help... although if it is I probably shouldn't be at work at all...
one 'benefit' - shingles is not infectious, you'll want to give it away but no-one will take it!!
Question Author
under normal circumstances yes...but unfortunately I work in an area where patients are immunocompromised so anything herpes based is a no no...
rowan...if you have stabbing pains with the rash it is almost certainly shingles. Get medical advice today.
My mum has shingles at the moment. Not very pleasant - but her symptoms did show in much the same way as you are describing above rowan x
actually when you have shingles, you can give people chickenpox because its the same virus. Stay away from elderly and frail people, also pregnant women.
