Hi Out there...feeling a bit down. Today was my weekly weigh in and have again put on 1 lb. making it a total of 6 pounds in a couple of months. I have doing Rosemary Connely since last Sept and managed to loose 10 kilos.
My doctor had given me pills to help keep my hunger down ( I didn't think they did) but now they have been taken off the market. (can't remember their name)

I am eating the same and exercising every day (am 70 yrs old) so I just wanted some support really. I shall keep on of course but it is so annoying to see numbers going the wrong way.

What do you indulge in Pasta!! ;o)

Yes, exercise is essential. I have problems because of arthritis, but I still do as much walking as I can. It makes such a difference. Thank heavens I have my dog because she makes me walk!!
Well...last night it was a huge pot of tortellini in a creamy sauce and lots of parmesan....followed by 3 M&S bakery choc chunk cookies........
And since I am a cook in a drop in centre...there's always biscuits on offer with 'eat me' on them........
Oh, you meant food!!! ;o)
Good idea Pastafreak. I have put a question up in suggestions to the ed.
lofty...'other' indulgences would help in weight loss...... ;-0

Hi Pastafreak. I have written to the editor and asked for a permanent sticky (whatever that is) Watch this space.

To those who seem to think that the age of 70 is over the hill I can say....far from it. Those of us who keep their figure or at least try to are smart and well dressed and take great pride in our appearance. In my case I am trying to take great pride in keeping myself healthy also. Hurray for us !!
A sticky is one of the yellow ones that sit at the top of the page.
Well done to you xsticher....I am just a few years behind you,and intend to stay as fit as possible. It keeps us young!
Not long for me either. The time will fly, as it does at our age!! Strange words from Sara I thought.

I agree with you LoftyLottie, I think she must be either very young or else not know many people of that age. When I was young (like yesterday) I thought 70 was the end of the line. Now I find it quite enjoyable and people in the supermarket talk to me, so there you go...
you are doing great xsticher and should be proud of yourself - as mentioned though not only does the metabolism slow down a bit but your body will have been getting used to the exercise you are doing. Just try to push yourself that little bit further - every little helps and dont focus on the little that you put on now and again focus on the excellent job you have done so far.
Nice to see this post being carried through thanks to XSTITCHER. I shall be reporting in on Wednesday morning As I said I stayed the same last week but I should have lost this week. My son has just rang up and asked if I would like to go for Sunday dinner at a carvery place so that will be my treat for next week. I am 72 and I think it is very important to look after yourself. You don't need to spend lots having make overs and lots of other things you can still look nice getting the excess weight off.I have lost 1stone and 1lb in about 7 weeks I need to lose another stone before my birthday end of Oct. That's the target I have set myself and if I can lose a few more lbs before Xmas that will be a bonus. Best of luck everyone.

It was nice to hear from you Wendilla. As my fatherinlaw said many years ago....we spend the first 40 years ruining our health and the next 40 trying to repair it. Well not quite in my case but like you I do want to stay as healthy and mobile as possible. I am finding it a great source of "feel good" when I do my daily exercises and think of all the AB'ers doing the same and waiting to talk again on Wed.
Thanks also to the EDITOR for putting this up as I am sure quite a few of us will appreciale it.
I can't endorse enough how well you are doing xstitcher, I too battle with my weight - spuds and bread are my downfall, and chocolate when life gets difficult. I have lost half a stone since Christmas, it doesn't sound a lot but people have noticed, which is an incentive, and I am keeping it off - my next target is 4lbs away and if I make it by Christmas I will be pleased. It may sound a long way off but if I can get it off and keep it off, that'll be down into the next stone bracket down and that's what I want to do. To those who find it easy to drop a few pounds, it isn't for all of us! - and I'm not that far behind xstitcher in age and I am horrified at the suggestion that once we get to 70 we should all just give up. I still take a pride in my appearance and am taken for much younger - so the beige shell suit is not yet for me (nor for others over 60 on here, by the sound of it!)
Hi boxtops yes it is very difficult. I have found it more difficult since I stopped smoking about 12 years ago .By having this sticky thread put up will help a lot of us.Will be reporting tomorrow as I think we decided wednesday was weigh day. And yes you are right just because we are elderly does not mean we have to give up. Good luck to you to carry it through.and by the way the spacestation is back round for evening viewing starting on Thursday at 10 26pm. I shall put a reminder up then as I knew you used to follow it sometimes.
Hi all.I found it really hard to lose weight on my own so i joined slimming world.its brill!if you find other diets restrict the amount of food you can have this one doesnt.on the extra easy plan you can have as much meat (no fat or cooked in fat),wholemeal pasta and rice, fruit and veg as you want plus you have healthy extras (bread, milk etc) and then sins as well.If you want chocolate or alcohol or naughty things like that you just have them as your sins or you can save them for the weekend and go out for a meal or drinks. It does work ive lost 2st 2lbs in 5 months and not felt hungry once!
Hi Debsly that's more or less what I do .Eat plenty healthy food lots of fish and chicken. If I want a treat I have it in moderation and congrats to you you have done very well.
since losing my job I walk everywhere and even if not needing anything from town I make sure I walk there everyday. I have now lost 7lbs, I eat toast for breakfast as soon as I get up, kickstarts motabolism, then salad for dinner and whatever I cook for tea
Actually molly was right if you've been getting more exercise you may well be changing your muscle/fat ratio...this would mean if you lost 2lbs of fat but built one pound of muscle your weight would stay pretty much the same for a while... best to check inches or how you look in a mirror.... well done..
I've only lost a couple of pounds over the last two weeks after a flying start...but I've been away back on track now...want to be a size 16 by the spring....(was 24-26 this time last year)
