Hey Kirky...

I was down the hospital with my mother the other day and I noticed a poster about "Lymphoma Mates" or something. It's basically a support network for people with Lymphoma, set up by people who've been there. I think anyone who's going through it at the moment can send and receive emails of support from/to others in the same boat, etc. There was a free phone 0808 number I think. Anyway, my mother is going back into hospital again shortly and so I'll try and get some more info for you.

thanks for the info ... 2 things that might hinder this are my mother is so uncomputer literate and she can be a cantankerous old cow she would have no time for anybody else in the same situation lol.

After the initial "shock" so to speak last week of hearing in black and white terms that things are not too good even though she new deep down she seems to be carrying on and just waiting to see how things pan out and getting on with her day to day routine.

I think she can communicate with others by phone instead of emails if that helps. I'll find out the actual number anyway and let you know.

My mother has only just died of lymphoma (funeral tomorrow) but she kept it at bay for a long time. She was first diagnosed back in 1988 and her consultant recently told her that she was his longest surviving patient. Of course during this time she did go through the unpleasantness of chemo (twice) and other treatments, but this never crushed her spirit.

She suddenly became weak and lethargic the weekend before last and was admitted to hospital where she deteriorated, slipping away peacefully in the early hours of last Saturday and the death certificate lists lymphoma as the cause of death. But 77 years of happy, active life punctuated by 7 days sedation in hospital is a deal I'm sure she would have taken. I know I would.

We opted for private flowers only at the funeral, with donations to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation suggested instead.
