I define myself as femme...basically a feminine lesbian, I like nice clothes, make up, being pampered... I sew, cook and like nice things around me but some would say due to my sexual preference I am not a proper woman....but am I still feminine other than in the scientific sense... And what do you see as feminine

You have just defined my idea of femininity.
Your sexual preferences are a private matter, kept in private.
Feminine = ladylike

so if a man likes doing all those things (including makeup, concealer, buying shoes etc) he is feminine ? i feel the masculine feminine roles have merged in the last 50 years and there is little left to distinguish the two.
Sound like a proper woman to me. Who or what you fancy is your business.
Ankou, yep he's feminine
I'm more of a butch hetero.........
A man who enjoys wearing makeup, concealer and buying shoes is certainly classed as feminine here in Yorkshire.
ankou....yes......I don't see your point.
Not a proper woman - that's TOTALLY outrageous! Femininity to me is knowing how to conduct yourself like a lady, with a like of being surrounded by pretty, nice things, a little luxury - but then that's just my thoughts!
I'm not feminine day to day but I am when I go out.

I really don't see the point in wearing makeup and burning my hair to go to the supermarket. I'm also into comfort....

Pretty nice things? Surely that's just taste...
I'm quite girly about certain things (shoes, hair and make-up although I refuse to put make up on to go to shops... and occasionally work if I can't be bothered... or to see close friends in their house... you get the picture!) but I'm not particularly feminine I'd say.

I think some of the problems come from the association with femininity and passivity....
I am not passive and can be quite outspoken,,, but no I don't go out and get drunk, I like to spoil guests a little but I love footie, and rugby, and understand the offside rule... anyone about to change their immediate reactions

No rowan, pretty happy with my own summary ta :c) I'm not feminine but I am girly.
would a a man who likes to do all those female things not be regarded as effeminite rather than feminine? (effeminite being a male who prefers female things).
i think that only women can be called feminine and that all females are, purely by being women.
ethandron...........exactly..........what a woman.
