I thought I had tonsillitis before but it was NOTHING compared with the agony I now have! The white blobs on my tonsills have gone, but the whole area is red, swollen, and I simply can't swallow, speak or eat. I have never known it to be so painful. I am allergic to anti-biotics, so does anyone know of any remedies? My job is a singing teacher, and I am totally stuffed unless I can fix this quickly!!!

MANY thanks!!

Zinc, echinacea, vit c, manuka honey, efa's and cut down on dairy!

intment to see my GP if I were you and asked to be referred to an ENT Consultant.

Have them checked out just to be on the safe side.

I have very similar, and then my throat actually blistered up to the back of my throat - it was agony!  Try gargling a mouthwash called "Oraldene".  It's red and comes in a clear bottle, the box is white red and blueI think.  My GP recommended this to me as I couldn't have anti-biotics (they don't prescribe them for tonsilitis anymore) nd it did the trick!

Try gargling -  and then swallowing - soluble asprin.  It does sort of numb the pain for quite a while.  Obviously follow the advised dosage but it really can help.
I used to have a lot of problems with my tonsils and used to get loads of pain. after going to the doctors a few times, he put me on the waiting list to have my tonsils out. this is with the ENT departement of the hospita. sometimes it can take ages, other times not but it is well worth it, better than having pain all the time.
When I had tonsillitis the only thing that made it feel at all better, and possibly helped flush out the germs, was drinking water constantly. I couldn't eat either. I find a lot of people including me get really depressed when they have it compared to other illnesses and I just cried all the time which isn't like me at all. I'm sure that draining on your emotions makes it take longer to heal so try and stay positive.
