I fell off a ladder beginning of april and went straight through a tv cabinet. Ended up going to a&e with a very swollen ankle not being able to stand on it at all.

After having x-rays i was told there was no major fractures to be concerned about but I had a hairline fracture right through my fibula (( if thats the ankle bone)).. I was given a knee length rocker boot to walk in and was told to come back in weeks time if it was still painful etc.

Went back week later to see a foreign doctor who dismissed any fracture straight away even though in my notes it said hairline right through. She then said it was soft tissue damage.

Im still in alot of pain and wondering wether its worth going back for another opinion.. The ankle gives way and i can turn it to the right without severe pain.

Does this sound like a hairline fracture or soft tissue damage ??

If there was a hairline fracture of the fibula, then it is "no big deal", no treatment is usually needed and if there wasn't a fracture then that is good.

Sounds like soft tissue or ligamentous damage and would suggest Ibuprofen 600mgms twice daily. If there is no improvement after a week then go back to your GP

Thanks sqad unfortunately I cant take ibuprofens im asthmatic and allergic to them.... Will see how it gets on if ont go back to my gp.

Thankyou
Hairline fractures are bloody painful. When I had one in my hand they put it in a cast. I think that was more for protection than cure.....
