Am currently meant to be doing a group project for uni but one person has completely taken over, is typing and making decisions for everyone instead of listening to the rest of us, why do people do this? SOrry just needed a bit of a rant!

Be honest and tell the person in polite terms that you appreciate their enthusiasm but you now want to know what the rest of the groups ideas are.

because there is always a leader in any group. Sometimes more then one which makes he problem even worse, just tell them how you feel about it.

You should be able to report them to your module leader.

The other option is shouting.

I would suggest the latter.

P.S. They do it because they're worried about their mark. How were meetings going before they "took over"? Is it possible it wasn't moving on very quickly? If so they're likely to have become frustrated with the pace and decided to "take things into their own hands"

this sort of thng often happens in group projects, some try to dominate the group while some are happy to hang back and let others do it all. As bigfoot says you just have to make sure this person remembers it's supposed to be a group effort, not just a platform for his/her ideas

Stop being so sensible.
Slash his/her car tyres and phone his/her mum and says he/she's on heroin. That'll get them off the project for a while, whilst they try to figure out how to pay for new tyres and why their mum now hates them

A project on Buddhism, was going Ok until we had to write an introduction as a group.
We're all female, that probably doesn't help! We all want to get good marks it's just that we have quite different ideas of what academic writing sounds like! Have had the same problem with this girl before but kind of just get stuck together cos we are friends, I just get very frustrated when I keep repeating the same idea, everyone agree with it but because she's typing she just doesn't listen!

Write the ideas on a piece of paper and staple it to her head. She'll soon get the message

Lol thanks for all the suggestions, some of them sound like they would be v satisfying! Think we've broken her down a bit now lol, just keep saying things parrot style till she gives in!

I agree with you there, Ed. I used to do my own separate research and projects just in case someone in the group didn't do their part.

Northampton. yeah we have separated most of it which has worked fine but there's one bit which we have to write together which is causing way more problems than it should!

Lol bigfoot and bobjugs, would lose if i tried arm wrestling or bikini wrestling so don't think either of those are good routes for me!
