I suffer from osteo-arthritis in my ankles and someone has suggested I take Glucosamine. Does it work, and if so, how?

Glucosamine is made naturally in the body and it maintains the cartilage. Taking it as a supplement has really helped some people with arthritis - but make sure you take a high-quality supplement.
