I had the following emailed to me but can anybody tell me if its true ?

When a thief forces you to take money from the ATM, do not argue or resist. You might not know what he or she might do to you. What you should do is to punch your PIN in the reverse mode.
I.e. if your PIN # is 1254, you punch 4521.The moment you punch in the reverse mode, the money will come out, but will be stuck into the machine half way out and it will alert the Police (security) without the notice of the thief. Every ATM has it; it is specially made to signify danger and help. Not everyone is aware of this.

Would be nice if it were true. I only ever use an ATM INSIDE a Bank, would never use one in the open.
It sounds daft, for it to work everyone would need to know about it

hoax

i love the way its advised you dont resist in case you get hurt. Nothing will happen if your stood there waiting for the police to arrive in next 20 mins or so?

Thanx for your answers, I had a sneaking suspicion that it was a load of old PONY
Pity it wasnt true.
I stand in the street and have to put sometimes a lot of money in an envelope in the middle of the street (like in the region of 1k) as the bleeding BS (Nationwide) wont accept it over the counter as its a joint a/c and we both have to be there to deposit money.Yet by their admission they then go and take the money out the ATM once ive been and deposit it to our A/C.My heart is in my mouth whenever I do it which makes me fumble all the more then the machine starts bleeping.................

if it were true what would happen in my case where my PIN number is palindromic?
why won't Nationwide let one of you pay cash in, I don't have this problem (but then I am not usually paying in that sort of money, more like twenty quid!)
Sorry that was for Dris.....

boxtops -its because its a joint a/c which requires both signatures as neither one of us trusts the other. So because he works away from home its usually left to me to organise the finances and when i deposit I have to to it at the ATM -its crazy really- hardly like youre trying to pull a fast one depositing money -more like the other way around hence the joint a/c :)

Newsdesk -oops I keep forgetting youre on your second or is it 3rd derivation of your name -do you keep getting banned :) xxx
-- answer removed --
Ah - not come across that before, having to sign on paying in. That's a tough one!
Newsdesk -I wasnt banned (as youve been told countless times) mwah xx.Ask yer boss(ess) :)

boxtops -mental isnt it? true tho (:
-- answer removed --
WOW that was a quick turnaround even for you Newsdesk -how do you remember who you are at any given time -got a jotter ? :)

O the halcyon days when we used to have a laugh together .....................gone but not forgotten.

Hun -believe and post what you want as im now a hippy and nothing bothers me man.Peace x

O BTW -if youre going to San Francisco -be sure to wear some flowers in your hair xxx
