If tensions increase in the South Atlantic, I wonder if we can depend on our special relationship that we have with the US, to back us up, especially now there is some oil interest involved?

We have 1,000 military personnel on land and 300 ships at sea, including a destroyer and a patrol boat, we also have four Typhoon jets.in the region.

bring back Maggie I say!!
300 Ships? Surely not the Royal Navy unless you're counting rowing boats.
Casper Weinburger is no longer in the US administration. Thatcher gave him an honoury knighthood for his services in defeating the Argies.

That is interesting rov, I thought that the US did not want to get involved in our war against the "Argies", in case it upset their relationship with certain South American countries.
I certainly got the impression that the US helped in "indirect" ways.........

Looks like a cue for some Floyd to me !

Brezhnev took Afghanistan
Begin took Beirut
Galtieri took the union jack
And Maggie, over lunch one day
Took a cruiser with all hands
Apparently to make him give it back
didnt thet kindly let us use the Ascension Islands as a stop off/refuelling point? TBH I was under the impression AI was UK owned anyway!
I don't know if the US would back us but I know who wouldn't and that's Nato especially our nearest neighbours.
