Does anyone know if you can buy eye drops for conjunctivitis, for a child over the counter? - she is 20 months old, GP can't see her tomorrow, and it's clearly bothering her.

I dont know the answer but you can always ask the pharmacist.

Yes you can, but the pharmacist can only agree to sell them for children aged over two years old :o(

Chloramphenicol is a broad spectrum antibiotic available at pharmacies over the counter without prescription but only for bacterial conjunctivitis and not for children. Bathe the eyes with cool sterile water to reduce the symptoms and clean the lids until you can see your gp.

I usually buy 'Brolene' eye drops - they are brilliant. I wear contact lenses and get sore eyes quite regularly. You can only get them from the chemist. Just checked on the instruction leaflet and it doesnt say you cant give them to children, well worth going to get some as it will probably be cleared it up by tomorrow.
