I have been off the drink for about 2 weeks now but now I find I am overeating - sweets in particular and biscuits. I know you all say dont buy them which I wont be buying the sweets but you do need a biscuit or two for visitors. Any help welcomed as I am going to be fatter with the sweet stuff rather than the beer

just bye low fat option ones easy
Eat some fruit instead....Or raw veg.

Easy for me to say but I don't eat or buy biscuits or sweets.

Are you trying to lose weight or are you trying to not put some on?
Buy sugar free lollipops. They will satisfy your sweet craving and last longer than a biscuit.
Something to bear in mind all the time is that it will be easier to diet and lose weight in the future than to get your liver and kidneys replaced.
Just a thought!!!!
Nil desperandum!
How about something like sugar free jelly?

Grapes are pretty good to snack on too, or tomatos. You can eat them slowly by peeling the skin off and eating them bit by bit so you don't eat so many.

Weightwatchers do some really nice stuff like their carrot cake slices.
If it is sugar you are craving, fruit really is the only option. I know it sounds dull, but the sugar in fruit will stop the craving and the fibre will fill you up, and be good for you! Seriously- the cravings will disappear after a few days. Make sure the rest of your diet is healthy too, and you will start to crave fruit and veg, and the sweets and biccies will seem quite unappealling.
The sugar craving is directly related to the alcohol. Alcohol is fermented sugar. Your body seems to know this. You only have to know recovering alcoholics to appreciate how true that is. In the early stages of recovery, they put so much sugar in their coffee that you wonder there's any room for the liquid ! It does pass with time.
Those weight watchers carrot cakes are absolutely delicious! Tesco do a cheaper alternative too which taste just as nice.

When I was on my detox I filled up an old 2litre coke bottle with water and left it in the fridge - you are meant to drink around that much water per day. If you are disciplined and drink it all every day for around 3 days your cravings will disappear, but if you continue for two weeks your skin will clear, you'll feel healthier and you'll lose weight because you don't ever snack!

N.b - you will wee a lot for the first week though!

thanks for your answers - no I just want to give my body a rest from alcohol. No - I do drink a lot of water and dont wee as much with the water as I do with the beer.

My big reason why I am eating the sweet stuff is I am bored at nighttime and dont sleep very well as you can see I am typing this at 2.30 am in the early hours of Sat morning - so it is a long night. I am going to try harder next week as it is almost 3 weeks without alcohol. I dont miss the actual alcohol just the habit side of it. ta ra till next time night night
go with the sweeties etc - safer than the booze. Your taste buds will settle with time.
