How do I claim back the money I spent out on medical treatment in ireland. No E111 so they wanted to be paid.

What do you mean 'how do I claim it back'?

You get free treatment only if you use an E111 card (or whatever they're called now); they're free and take minutes to apply for. We in Ireland don't have an NHS as such, so we have to pay for treatment unless we are unemployed.(�50 average for a GP visit, �110 for A&E, medication is not included in any case and is paid to the pharmacy).

I would be amazed if there's any mechanism at all that would allow you reclaim funds for treatment received abroad from your NHS; I can tell you now you will get nothing back from the Irish Health Services Executive.

But good luck trying...
Just in case anyone's curious by the way - about 60% of us here have private medical insurance. OAPs have free medical, as do unemployed. The rest just do what they can.
