Argh, i cannot believe i am asking this, but there you go.

I am a fifteen year old girl, and we have rules. One of these rules is that dating someone younger than yourself is to be avoided, inless you are prepared to suffer the probable resultant ridicule.

I have an apparent fondness for someone around 1 and three quaters years younger than me. Its not so much that i fear the teasing, but that i cannot come to terms with it myself. I feel like a bit of a perv!

Please help me! Is it weird?

Don't laugh!!

If you really like him and he likes  then thats all that matters, why should you worry what other people think?

I dont think that its  such a big age gap and if hes mature enough for you then go for it -good luck!

No, it's not weird, I know exactly how you feel. It's a long time since I was 15 but I remember really liking a couple of lads who were in the year below at school, & I know they liked me too. It was just a big no no & I felt like you - that it was something you just didn't do. But why??? Not the crime of the century is it? In fact it wasn't until I was in my 30's that I met a much younger fella & all my 'principles' went out of the window!

Whatever you decide, enjoy your friendship with him, it's not carved in stone that the men have to be the older one in a relationship.  (Thank goodness 'cos I only seem to fancy the younger ones now!!)

Thank You! It makes me think, its not much of a big thing is it? Thanks again!

Age does not matter at all.  18 months difference is nothing. Don't worry about what your mates say.  It's quite fashionable these days to have a toy boy.  I am 57 and I certainly wouldn't mind one!  Chance would be a fine thing!

Oh and a very fine thing it is Fakeplastic! ;-)

Now if I concentrate really hard I just might dream about Paul Nicholls again tonight.

I was the same when i was your age and i chose not to see a guy i really fancied because he was in the year below me. Now i wish i had because the girls that teased me were only jelous. I have since been out with lads younger and older than me and as long as you both want to be with each other then there is no problem!
Look at Cameron Diaz with Justin Timberlake, slighty bigger age gap than 18 months! I bet the people that tease her are just jelous!
I wouldn't have called 18 months younger a 'toy boy'. My husband is only 18 months older than me but I'd hardly call him a 'sugar daddy' he he!
My bf is 5 years younger than me and it doesn't matter in the slightest. I've been attracted to younger guys for ages and I love it! When you get a bit older you'll be very happy to be able to attract younger men, I think.
my bloke is a year younger than me and he's always teasing me (in a nice way!) about being an old woman! I don't think it matters too much as long as you like each other and he treats you right. If your friends tease you it's probably because they're jealous!
It's all in proportion really.  My gf is 8 years younger than me, and whilst I don't give two hoots about what anyone thinks, if we were both 12 years younger this would be completely inappropriate.  Go with  the flow if it feels right.
Something else we have in common CiderMonkey...
Go for it girl. I avoided some potential Girlfriends when a similar age because I was scared of my mates taking the mick. I wished afterwards I had, I missed out on some great ones!!

If it helps any, my wife is 54 and I am 31 next week - been together 7 years now (only 1 year married) - longer than a lot of marriages last these days.

(and we are still very much in love)

Men forever go out with girls and no one says anything to them about age difference (except parents) so 18 months doesn't make a difference at all

yes, nicola_red. it's kinda nice to know there's another 'me' in Manchester!

age seems to matter more when u are young because u develop so much more and so rapidly so it is more obvious someone of a slightly lesser age is considerably more immature, as u get old the development of a human slows down significantly and the publicly accepted age range is far wider. there is nothing wrong with fancying this younger guy further than the respect your mates give u and if u wish to be treated as an individual u shouldnt allow peer pressure to affect u but make ur own desicions,

As u probably hate to hear from people, as u get older it will get better. and believe me it does make more sense in life and u begin to age becomes more irrelavant.

Imagine it this way, in about 10 years time u will be 25 and he will be about 24 and u will wonder what u were making a fuss over. (I know cos i have met up with a girl i caught a bus with and was friendly with but i dare not fancy cos she was the year below me, and now she is a gym instructor with a great figure and i am so jealous hehe)
