us citizen to marry canadian citizen

I am a us citizen, my fiancee is a Canadian. we want to get married possibly in the USA, and then move to Canada immediately. i understand that i will not be able to work for 6-12 months in Canada. Is there any reason why we can't do that? should we get married in Canada instead? thank you!
